Issues On The New Ride 2008

Ok, I've had the truck for about a month(minus vacation time) and a little over 1000 miles and have come up with a few questions. The drl's are the same bulbs as the lows from what I can see, but it seems to me that the lighting in the gauge pods is lit even with the drl's on. Does anyone else have this going on? Or are the numbers/letters just that reflective? I know this morning, I pulled out of the garage and the red/blue arrows for the climate control were lit, so I know the auto lamps were on, as the red/blue turned off after some time in the light. Another issue...apparently my compass in the mirror is set in the wrong zone(only off by 1). The manual says to press and hold the power button for the mirror. Upon doing that, I get an option to change from F to C and can't get anything to come up to help me change the compass for true North. Any thoughts?

Not sure about the DRL's, but I tried the compass thing as well. You have to keep holding it down once you get to where you can change from C to F. It eventually gets to the compass zone. Luckily, the dealer must have changed it before they delivered the vehicle to me, cause it was already in the right zone.

The dash lights are in a world of their own. I have a NBS 2007 and sometimes they are lit and sometimes they aren't. I guess it depends on the light sensor.

One thing I didn't like was how you can turn the dash lights. For one they don't get very dark - the brightness control seems to have minimal effect on the gauge lights. Second - the actual gauge lights seem of a different brightness than the radio/ac, but maybe that's just me.

I work at times at night with Texas Parks and Wildlife and at times we'll sit in a dark field in the truck with the lights off watching for whatever. First night out I realised my lights weren't going to go all out.

I made a template out of cardboard to fit over the dash/radio and stuck a piece of black electrical tape over the airbag indicator.......

The DRL's stay off with the parking brake engaged when you first start the truck. As soon as you release the parking brake, the DRL's come on. I first noticed the behavior since 1996 on a rented DeVille in Vancouver where the Canducks have had DRL's for a loooong time.
