Hi, I have a 2003 1500 and I have bought a steering wheel with controls and a SIR coil from a 2005 Tahoe that has all the plugs.

I have already put the wheel on the truck to make sure it fits, so that is not a problem.

I need help to install the coil/clockspring and wiring.

How long should it take to feed and find all the connections under the dash?

I assume that just hooking all this up will give me access to the full DIC with no other programming?? Or do I have to have some software updated?

I do realize that to use the audio controls, I will have to go to the dealer.

Thanks for any advice yall can give. :)

You will need to have the BCM programmed to allow use of the DIC and the radio controls. It will not work for either feature without the programming.

The time it takes depends on how well you work on tearing things apart and putting it back together. You need to remove the plastics on the steering wheel, the dash surround and lower dash panel. You also need to disconnect the coil from the steering column. I would recommend connecting the coil to the shaft while letting the old coil hang. As you unplug 1 wire, reroute the new plug to that same location. This will keep the factory routing and prevent cables from being pinched or twisted.

Or having your DIC programmed? LOL...

You have to have the BCM programmed for the wheel controls, and the IPC programmed to allow the DIC....

I have the wheel, just need the clockspring!

Quick question....I added the steering wheel controls and had it programmed and everything works however the curb side assist does not work. I ordered my truck w/the camper mirrors. Will the curb side assist work w/camper mirrors or is the "memory" module required?

Thanks,

Chris

Finally got my clockspring! Now.. A couple of questions:

Is there a centering procedure for the clockspring?

How do you remove the airbag?

I have a 07 classic crew cab and i wondering how hard it would be to add dic? I have no steering wheel controls but to the left of the dash there is a small pocket is that were buttons would go? And will most dealers do the reprogram of the computer?

No, that pocket is only on 2wd trucks...that is where the 4wd buttons are. DIC buttons on 07 classic and older are on the steering wheel. NBS Sierra DIC buttons are to the left of the steering wheel.
