Wheel/tire Question

Recommended Posts

I have an 07 Nbs silverado with 265/65/18 stock wheels/tires. I am getting a 2 1/2" levelling kit installed next week. I want to put on XD Monster black rims.

The dimensions for my current wheels are 18 x 8 with a +31 mm offset. The new wheels are 18 x 9 with a -12mm offset and 4.52 inch backspacing.

Will these wheels fit on my current tires? Acording to Bridgestone's webpage, the approved rims for these tires are 7.5-9.5 with a measured rim width of 8.0.

Thanks.

based on those measurements, you should be ok, but will have a shorter sidewall, you are increasing the width by an inch, dont know the construction of that tire, may want to take to a shop to let them mount it on and see once you get the rims. regardless, show some pics after its all said and done.

265mm width = 10.43307 inches. This won't be the exact width of your tread but it's close.

Using that, 265s will fit on a 9 inch wide wheel but will look a little narrower on the wider rim. The biggest issue I see is that according to your numbers the wheel offset is 43mm further to the outside PLUS the wheel is an inch wider (only 1/2 of that is outside the centerline). That means the new wheel will be over 2 inches more offset to the outside. If this is true the wheels are going to stick out quite a bit further than stock. Fronts might rub when turned. Might look odd. I sure would test fit one first.

Thanks for the quick response...They also make a +18mm offset with 5.7 inch backspacing. Do you think these would be a better fit?

I would like my truck to have a wider stance, but I don't want to look ridiculous...

I think it would look and fit a lot better.

+18 would move them in 1.18 inches compared to the other 18x9 wheels. I would think that would be worth trying one to be sure. I have 20x9s with +30 offset and they fit right out near the edge of the fender.

Would the only problem be the tires rubbing? What other problems could there be?

+18 might be OK. -12 would stick way out and probably rub big time turning. They would also probably ride up on the ridges in the road since they are so much further out than stock. Otherwise I say do what you think looks good. +30 in a 9 inch width is about an inch out further than stock if I remember right. My +30s have about 3/4 inch clearance in the front when the wheels are turned.

Test fitting is the best way to tell.

Good luck.

I have 20" x 8.5 with a offset of +18mm and they don't stick out, but it is close. They slightly rub on my mudflaps but a little trimming and there good.

Nice Truck! Do you have a leveling kit also?

Do your tires rub on the fender or just the mud flaps?

If they only rub on the mud flaps, I think I should be ok... Your tires are much wider than mine...

Thanks, 2" rough country level kit. They only rub on the mud flaps. The tires I have now are 275-55-20 ATR's. I would like to go with 275-60-20 but they might rub even more, I'm not sure.
