Modified/loud Exhasut

I kinda understand people who want their truck to look unique. I kinda understand people who modify truck to go faster - maybe.

 

I was at the local garage the other day and a pickup truck was on lift. I noticed dual exhasust coming out the rear. Then I looked closer and the dual exhaust began after the single muffler. That may be dual exhaust to some but not the dual exhaust I knew from the past. Real dual exhaust runs from the left and right header all the way back. Maybe the truck on lift had a less restrictive muffler, therefore faster with two pipes exiting this muffler?

 

And then there is the noise factor. Who does one impress with a loud(er) exhaust system? Your family? Your neighbors? Your co-workers? The police?

 

Is there some kind of personal gratification going on here?

Well a true dual exhaust you are right, Each header has its own pipe coming all the way to the rear of the truck with a x over pipe in the middle, since these cost more money most just opt for a dual rear exit but single inlet muffler.

 

 

What you are talking about the sound is similar what most of the rock and rollers did. They Rebeled.

 

 

I like the sound of a mean old V8 rumbling down the street.

I agree with you on the dual exhaust. I like two pipe's running all they way back. As far as the noise thing goes, I think it's a lot to do with people going to the drag strip friday/saturday nights and trying to make their car/truck sound like the race cars do. I have a race car with large tube open headers. It's loud. I wouldn't be able to stand anything remotely close to that as a daily driver. I guess some poeple don't realize most of these cars/trucks aren't driven everywhere and in some cases like mine, they aren't driven anywhere except the track.

Open Headers not good for the street I agree. You also have to understand that if you want the full potential of a High performance car you need to open up the exuast, It comes to a point where it is to much i agree but a nice rumble is always good.

It don't matter, with the boom boxes and obnoxious exhaust, they will be deaf in ten years.
