Tires Sensors

GMT900.

For my 2nd set of winter tires, I have a few options. One is to go out and purchase another set of sensors for $200.00.

Is there any way just to disable the all the original tires sensors then just purchase extra rims with my choice of tires and use regular valve stems.

Can the original tire sensors just be turned off? Is there a dedicated fuse? What are the ramafications?

I am not sure myself, but there is a poster on this forum who has done it. His username is "song". Look him up and I am pretty sure he can help you out.

Yes, I read that post from SONG.

Interesting read. And there potentially is legal ramifications.

It didn't answer my question. But it might be a moot point if sensors are disabled, the truck will not pass annual state inspection.

But that is a moot point for me as I would only be using the Winter tires in winter and my annual inspection is late Spring. By that time, my factory rims/wheels/tires would be back on.

Is the low/high air pressure sensor just a light on the dash or is it a bell too? What about just black tape?

it s just a dash light that is on and every time you start it a message comes up saying "Service Monitor System" It apparently knows that after it gets a flat signal and you keep driving awhile it thinks there is something wrong with the system. So Yes you can drive around if the dash light doesn t bother you. I don tknow if you can disable the whole thing but I d be interested to see what the answer is.
