Remote Start Issues?

Has anyone has any problem with there factory remote start on there nbs trucks. I had the crank sensor while using the remote start awhile ago, and just had the same problem happen again. Anyone else have this problem?

Can you be a little more specific all I saw was "I had the crank sensor" meaning what, the sensor went bad? what is it doing?

I hate to repeat this, but here goes again: The more gizmos, the higher the probability of something going wrong. Stuffing new vehicles with all kinds of electronic gadgets is hurting the quality across the board - Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, Gm, you name it. I remember that people used to drive trucks with vinyl bench seats, rubber floor mats, no A/C , roll up windows, manual transmission and AM radio. Now if the new truck does not come with a Navigation system and DVD player and 40 way power, cooled and heated leather seats, and 100 cup holders, they do not want it. And God forbid it had a manual transmission! Or a manually actuated transfer case lever! They might overexert their fat ass, or it might interfere with their yakking on the cell phone or stuffing their face with candy bars while driving! What a bunch of BS! What happened to the old rugged vehicles that were meant to be driven off road and used hard? Chevy like a rock? Not anymore! More like "My Chevy has more foreign made cheap and crappy electronic gadgets than yours".

We have entered the age where it is new gadgets, not quality that sells cars and trucks. I am waiting for an electric tailgate that will both lower and raise itself at the push of a button or on a verbal command next. Yes that's it! No more pushing buttons - just say it and the truck will do it for you so you have more time stuffing your face and keeping not slim.

My grandfather was saying the same thing when I was a kid in the 50s. He couldn't believe what a bunch of pansy a$$es the world had become. Electric starters, hydraulic brakes, overhead valves, auto spark advance, automatic chokes, oil filters, synchromesh, turn signals, radios, heaters, defrosters, AIR CONDITIONING!!! Just something else to fix. And what the hell is wrong with running boards!

His remote starter was a couple of wires (hanging out of the hole in the dash that the key switch once occupied) that he twisted together for the ignition and another one that he grounded out on a rusty spot on the dash to engage the starter. I don't think I ever rode with him faster than 45 mph. Mostly around 25. Cup holders? He always kept a coffee can on the floor of the truck with a couple of inches of sand in it to spit in when he was in town or it was raining too hard to roll down the window. Though he was happy to see the vacuum operated windshield wipers go.

The Cadillac SRX has power rear lift gate OPENING and CLOSING. Will only be a matter of time before it will be on the tailgates of the pickups.

Oh..... by the way... you can speak to the voice recognition and say... "NAVIGATION.. I AM HUNGRY" and the resturant icons pop up on the NAV screen.

I wonder what comes up on the Nav screen if you say: "Navigation...I am horny" Porn? Blow-up doll inflates out of the Airbag compartment? Or maybe directions to the closest Cat house?

no problems like that with mine, although i had the crank sensor re set once and leaking another time. How do you link the sensor to using the remote start? Remember when dash boards were all hard, sharp metal, and no airbags or seatblets.

Sounds like someone does not appreciate technology. In those days have an accident and you may not live as well. SAFETY and the ENVIRONMENT are the main reasons for the electronics. The others are just fringe benefits of having the on board processing power. I do not like how thin the bodies have become but then again the trucks are lighter than most cars were in the late 70s early 80s. My GM has more technology and a safer environment so I do not worry about the fact my warranty covers the powertrain for 100,000 and that is up my friend from 12 months or 2400 miles. You do the math people are driving them farther and people are treating them more severe than they ever were back in the day. I would not put my 69 through half of what I put my new GMC through as it would not set in traffic and idle and last near as long as todays engines.

I agree with the post on grandpas - my grandpa landblasted my dad for even buying a car - he told dad that riding the tractor to town was sufficient enough to pick up groceries. He told dad that if mom wanted to go hook up the hay trailer and take her that is what he did until he died in the 1970s and never cared about rain or cold. Times have changed for sure.

But I do appreciate technology. It's just that I'd rather have good quality brake rotors and intermediate steering shaft in my truck than a voice recognition power telescopic steering wheel made in China.

And do not deny me the choice of a manual transmission just because some lardass is too lazy to shift gears. Or, cannot eat, drink, smoke, fiddle with the navigational system, talk on the cell phone, and shift gears at the same time.
