Hey there,I'm new here, so please forgive me if I am out of line. I have a '01 silverado 1500 extended cab, and I am in need of the chassis electrical diagrams (exterior lighting, trailer, etc.) I purchased the Haynes manual for my truck, but it is one of those that spans a few years, and in doing so they encompassed the major chassis/body change year and did not include the updated schematics. One other item that was not updated were the four wheel disc brakes. The manual only refers to drum brakes on the rear. The reason I brought that issue up is I have no parking brake, all of the components seem to be in place, and operable, however, when the parking brake is applied it hits the floor before enough pressure is applied to the pads to hold the vehicle. I checked for adjustment at the point where the three cables meet underneath, and it seems the factory did not leave any adjustment for me. The pads are not excessively worn, nor are the rotors. I doubt the cable has streched, as the only time the brake has been used in the past is when I have worked undeneath the truck, and rare occasions of parking on a hill with a trailer or other load. Any sugjestions? Sorry about my long windedness, I truly would appreciate any help you can give me.

P.S. While browsing around looking for the digrams I noticed quite a few people with a clunking noise coming from the front of their trucks, I believe that noise can be narrowed down to a sloppy steering column shaft in the engine compartment, I found my noise only after my son was kind enough to try and push a buick out of his way at 50 MPH!!! Thanks again

WOW! That is an impressive amount of information, and to top it off, you had it posted in a matter of hours, I am truly impressed, and extremely grateful. Hopefully I will be able to put this treasure to use this weekend! I take it the info is out of the factory build sheet/ shop manual? If you are refrencing from a book, is it avail. to the gen. public for purchase? If so, I may be interested. Again, thank you for your swift response, however,(and I really feel like a heel for asking,) did you have any luck locating the electrical diagrams For the same truck? I am in the process of installing a brake controller for my travel trailer, and enclosed utility trailer, and the truck did not come with the upgraded 8 wire trailer harness. I purchased the adapter that connects the controller to the distribution block under the driver side dash, and it seems that the factory ran the wires from the distribution block to a yet to be determined location. If I can locate reliable diagrams that show the wiring harness at it's basic trim level with the optional upgrades I can determine the what, where, and how many I need to install. I have a strong background in electrical, so very complicated diagrams do not intimidate me, judging by the info you gave me on the brakes, I am beside myself in anticipation of what you will come up with !!!

P.S. Thank you for the welcome to the forum, and as soon as I get these two issues resolved and my truck back on all four I will shoot a couple of pics and post. Thxs Again.............Duane

That information actually comes from GM Dealerworld Service Center (Not available to the general public) , but with most requests, I still post it here to help out. Some of this information is contained within the newer service publications from Helm (www.helminc.com) and can be purchased, but the problem is I dont know if they come with the high resolution diagrams that I put online (if they do, will someone let me know). I would have to look at the Service Center to see if I can find anything related to the wiring harness...will let you know.
