Abs Light.

Yesterday, we had nasty weather and used the Auto 4x4 and took it easy on it and this morning I took the truck out of the garage and the ABS light came on. I was on my way down the road and the light went off. I was on a crappy road that had snow and stuff on it and I pressed the brakes and the ABS works fine. Just wondering if maybe I had some chit on the sensor that fell off, like snow or slush, or something to be worried about. Took the truck for a ride and it seems to be fine. I have a Silverado if that makes any difference. Thanks for the help.

If it is still under warranty, take it in, it may have set a code in the computer (yes even if the light is still not on)

It's an 02, so no warranty. I have a Scan Gauge and it says no Codes Stored, so I don't know what to think.

I don't know about trucks, But my car had this problem. Check the speed/abs sensor. Blow some compressed air in it. Sometimes muck and junk or water can cause problems.

I think that might have been the problem. We had some snow and freezing rain yesterday and I used the truck alot around town here, run arrands etc, and I used Auto 4x4 and it had ALOT of snow on the front end. It was all melted this morning on the garage floor, and pulled it out of the garage the light came on. I was going down the road and 1000ft. down the road it shut off. All seems well, so I don't know what to think. The Scan Gauge is not picking up any codes so I think it is ok. Any other Comments, or has anyone ever have this problem after a snow?

I have this problem now after snow we got this week. My truck was stuck and I spun the tires in the snow a lot. The ABS light turned on and I haven't driven the truck since. I'm going to go get some lunch now, if the light turns off I can assume that the computer has acknowledged that I am no longer stuck and all four wheels are turning at the same speed.

Ok, I went to lunch and half way down my street the ABS light turned off. I'm assuming the computer needed a chance to learn that I wasn't stuck anymore.

No, it sounds like it was just a little piece of, as you say, chit. I had the same problem for 5 minutes when I drove thru a snowbank.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks after I bought the truck. I took it in and they didn't find anything wrong.
