2002 6.0 2500 Hd

So I've had my 97 GMC 1500 for 5 years now and I love it but it's starting to do "things that say I'm 167,000 miles old. Rear is making noise, Hard starts in the morning, needs all new ball joints etc, tranny shudders sometimes. It's just getting old and I'd like a change of scenery.

Looking at a 2002 Silverado 2500 HD LS package with a 6.0. The truck has 23,500 miles on it. One owner, he drove a company truck every day and this on weekends. IT's clean, not a mark on it, trailer hitch has never had a receiver in it. Looks to be well taken care of. I have the guy at $15500 now.

Think it's a good deal? What issues should I look for?

I've had Vortec 350's forever but the 6.0 is new to me.

WOW... 23K and less than half the price of a new one sounds pretty tempting. It would be a great upgrade without the new truck price.

Hey sound sliek a good eal i am in the same boat as you. does the LS package have cloth or leather, not familiar with the chevies. i am looking at a sweet truck i just need to hope it is still there when i go on saturday...

I would go for it. The 6.0 is a very solid engine and one day might even have the reputation that the 350 does. I went from a 96 Chevy 1500 with the 5.7 and I really miss it but I am happy with my 2002 2500HD CC LB with the 6.0. the truck will feel much more solid, the transmission will also give you a little more confidence if you ever tow.

That sounds like a fair price to me for that truck.

That's a pretty good price.

Don't worry too much about the 6.0, I've pulled about 6,000 lbs with about 900 lbs of crap in the bed without breaking a sweat, didn't even sag the rear end. It will suck up gas though.

Yeah, It might be a little harder on gas than your 350, but you will love the engine! It's everything the 350 had and then some. With those kind of miles and that price, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I feel better buying an HD over a half ton for just daily driving too. The trucks are built to handle abuse, but if you drive it normally, I think they are more reliable than half tons by a lot.

I have a 2002 HD LS CC LB w/ 6.0 and love my truck! I had a 90 2500 before and my 02 is 10 times more truck than my 90. That is great mileage and price on that truck. I would buy it!

i just sold the same truck, problems on my 02 2500hd were piston slap, 2qt's of oil burn in 3000miles, 4 sets of brakes and rotors, tranny went, rear end gone twice, and a bunch of other smaller problems. all this in 53000 miles but no matter what you do good luck, run a google seach and you will find what other problems people are having

I had those same problems with a POS Tundra I just sold. I now have a 2002 HD, no problems.

Toyota sucks and will never have this GM customer because they sell junk.

If everyone googled every car they ever bought, nobody would buy anything. You can find problems with every car ever made. This accomplishes nothing. For every preson who posts something in the web about a problem with their truck, there are many more who have no problems that you never hear from. Enjoy your Tundra, just like other truck owners enjoy their trucks, but at least admit that any 2002 model will have had more problems posted than any 2007 model. Be realistic. Every company makes a bad truck every now and then, it's the law of averages. Sounds like you got a bad one.
