I had a 2003 chevrolet silverado ext cab LT. I just traded it fo a 2006 GMC Sierra. My new Sierra has the DIC,like the Silveado, but i do not have the instant econ feature. What year did they take this out? I use to use that alot.

I seem to recall it was 2005 that was the last year with "instant economy" in the DIC. It was also the last year they had a real block heater plug and not the one with a 0 degree thermostat in it.

My '07 Silverado has instantaneous economy. They must have re-implemented it for NBS trucks.

Thats odd, because my son's 2007 Sierra Denali does "NOT" have instant economy.

Reckon some do.........some don't. :ninja:

Could it be only the vehicles with AFM on the 5.3? The instantaneous screen is the only one that shows v4 or v8 mode, so maybe that's why they put it back on there.

Ahh . i wonder why they took that out? I also lost the side function of the lumbar support. I do not have that as well. I use to have the 4 wasy switch up,down, and side to side. Now, it is just side to side.

I just hate loosing features even though i hardly use to use the seat lumbar, but the instant econ kept me off the pedal. Especially since this one is a5.3 as well.

Oh yeah, I for got to mention that the only reason i traded my 2003 Chevt LT for the GMC, was that the GMC is a Southern Comfort.

My truck has the instant economy message. But like someone already said, it comes on the V4/V8 screen with the AFM engines.

I also now have the instant economy/V4-V8 mode on my DIC. I too think it's an AFM related feature on most. I added the DIC panel though after I bought mine.. Previously I had to toggle the trip button to see most readings. In other words the wiring was all in place, I simply added that $100 panel. Before that I couldn't see the instant economy or V4/V8 modes. Mine is a GMC SLE1 too. I've added a few things since.

My 2005 Silverado doesn't show the instant fuel mileage either. That kind of ticks me off. My mom has a 2002 Envoy that shows it, my dad has a 2003 duramax that shows it. Mine does not, go figure. I asked waitforme performance if they could add it back in. Unfortunately, thats part of the Body Control Module or something similar and they can't add it back in.

Yeah, my 2003 had it, but i guess you can not have your cake and eat it too. I just wondered if may be it could be programmed in there. I kinda figured that other people would not have it either. I know they added it on to the 2007 and newer trucks. It just makes you think on why i had it on a 2003, and then they remove it in 2006.
