We had a poll for the GMT-800 trucks, so why not GMT-400?

1989: Fleetside Sport and Z71 packages debut. Last year for "twin" headlights.

1990: 454SS and Work Truck (W/T) debut. Last year for "moon" gauges.

1991: 7.4L revised. 4L80E debuted. Reclining bucket seats optional.

1992: Stepside extended cabs debut. 4-speed manual dropped. 6.5L diesel available with turbo.

1993: Stepside Sport and 4L60E debuted. 4.3L revised. Last year for 454SS and 6.2L diesel.

1994: Grilles receive updates. Third brake light and door lights added. Switched to R134A refrigerant.

1995: Redesigned interior and improved sound system. 4-wheel ABS and driver side air bag standard. Last year for OBD-I and TBI.

1996: Vortec gasoline engines debut. Third door and electric shift transfer case optional. OBD-II and daytime running lamps debut.

1997: Passenger air bag standard. Speed sensitive steering debuted.

1998: Passlock added and OnStar optional.

I'm torn between 1995 and 1996. They were the only two years with the new interior but without that stupid passenger air bag. I'd actually rather have the 88-95 TBI engine rather than an early 96-99 Vortec, but a third door would be nice.

Loved my 92 ext cab Z71 was my first truck owned it 10 years.

Liked my 97 GMC Extended cab. Don't know what year they changed the dash, but the later models were nicer. Liked the headlights better on the later models, and the third door.

I had a 95 1500 for 12 years. Great truck. Glad I waited for the interior re-design. I've driven the 94 down trucks and did not like their dash at all. I've also driven 96 up and I liked them slightly better. The passenger air bag did look stupid, but it served a purpose! I have never driven the 6.5L TD, so cannot comment. I'd really like to drive one, but they are so rare now!

I loved my '94. I put 170K on the 4.3L V6. Traded it in '99 for a 2000. Towed a 18' bassboat all over east Texas. The only things ever replaced were the compressor and the battery. I liked the frontend look and it had a blue interior.

I was envious of the new dash in my son's '95.

89 Chev reg cab. 8' bed bought it new Nov. 88 still have it, 159,000 miles. Good truck does everything I need it to do still. It has a 350 and it's 4 wheel drive, 14 mpg city 20 hwy.

My first truck was a 1989 GMC Sierra 4x4 Reg cab, 350 engine. I loved that truck!!! Sold it to my best friend in 1999 when I bought my 2000 GMC Sierra. He drove it until last year to a local guy (he lives in a small town in southern MN). It had 150K when I sold it, 250K as of last year and he still sees it on the road today. Only thing he ever had to do was head gaskets. Original engine and tranny.

I had a 94' 4X4 w/ a 350 and 4l80e and loved that truck.

Nothing more reliable than a TBI yet not enough power to break anything!

I loved my '94. I put 170K on the 4.3L V6. Traded it in '99 for a 2000. Towed a 18' bassboat all over east Texas. The only things ever replaced were the compressor and the battery. I liked the frontend look and it had a blue interior.

I was envious of the new dash in my son's '95.

Yea, the newer dash was nice looking, but air bags are for Honda Civics and there are no cup holders. You get one on the dash for cans...Truck drivers need room for big gulps.

Oohh yeah I had to pick 99 classic not only because I have one. But... When I was looking to get a truck I was looking at the 99 new body style trying my hardest to like its looks. I really want aware that there was a 99 classic and when I finally found, well lets just say I was a happy man! my second favorite year would have to be the 97 though cause that was the turning point in this body style with the revealing of Chevy's first third door in the half ton ext. cab!

Had a 89, 2-90, 91, 93, 94, 95, 97, 98, 99, 2-01, 2-04, and an 07. My favorite is my 07, of the years in question, I loved the interior of the 92 throu 94, but liked all the added perks by 98

I like the 98-99 models because they had most of the bugs worked out but still had the classic body style. Plus they had dual air bags just in case that idiot decided to take you out when the wife was riding along.

Heh heh... not too sure about that. Ask my friend how many times he blew up the rear end in his '95 Tahoe. It might have been slow, but it could light up tires on demand!
