Edge Evolution And Amperage Draw

Well, my Sierra isn't my daily driver and sometimes sits 1-3 weeks without being driven. Not to long ago the Delco battery died from sitting even after having the software upgrade but I really didn't care because I just thought it was a bad battery and I was going to replace it with a Optima Yellow Top. Well I put the yellow top in and my truck sat for 2 weeks and THE YELLOW TOP WAS DEAD! by now i'm puzzled and have even put one of those gadgets around the positive cable to check for any power draws. It says none. So I take it to the dealer today and they say even while sitting (stock) there is always a current draw of 20-30 milliamp on the battery giving it a 30 day life without being driven. When the Edge Evolution is plugged in There is a 100 milliamp draw giving the battery a 6-8 day life. So i'm just letting those of you with Edges know unplug it if your going to let your truck sit for more than 5 days. The guy gave me a sheet showing amperage draws and expected battery life on it, it also had information on it stating they are having this problem with Denalis and Acadia's becuase even while off there are over 20 things running at once from the onstar and GPS. I just thought I should share this information with the rest of you who may of have had battery problems.

P.S. The guy also told me GM had plans of 24 volt radio system

How do you have it wired? I always power items such as that for Key In Engine On (like a radar detector).

The Evolution is wired the only way it can be, the OBD II port and it's key on only, as with my radar detector invisacorded to the mirror is only when the vehicle is running

One quick question. Why did you get a yellow top optima battery? They only have a one year warrenty. I'm under the impression that they are mostly for deep cycle applications like rv interier needs. Also the charging is suppose to be at a lower amp rating then your truck puts out. A red top has a longer warrenty and has a higher charge rating like your tuck has.

I asked this because another post about a month ago was upset when his yellow top failed after about 15 months and the seller wouldn't give him a new one for free.

I resurched this batterys two years ago for my rv and this was what the factory guys told me.
