FRANKD3TANK Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Iam still not convinced with wat type, brand and, size of toolbox to go with. Maybe if i can get some pics of all the crap you guys have inside of them to help me decide on wat size. LOL LOL And also, wat would u prefer steel or aluminum? Low profile or regular?
tigerbait Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Are you asking about truck tool box or shop tool box? This is what i just ordered for the truck. I like the powdercoat and it will fit nice between the bed rails. http://www.unitedweldingservices.com/blk_chest.html I have a craftsman 8 drawer for the garage.
j.roffel Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I got the Delta Champion 351000 Low Profile Bright Aluminum Fullsize box and couldn't be happier. I've got a regular cab and a 12" sub behind the seats so everything goes into the box, that's 2 toolboxes, ratchet set, emergency kit, an extra winter coat, tow strap, random tools, and little stuff back there, and I still have room leftover. I'm glad I went with the low-pro, I think it looks better and I look over my shoulder when I backup. I'll try and take some pictures of it on my truck tomorrow for you, but until then, this is it.
DEV1ST8R Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Definitely low profile and I'd say aluminum.
-Devil- Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 click on the link below my sig to see mine i wouldn't consider going with anything other then a low profile box ... the normal ones block a little to much for my taste
jsn0801 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I would say low profile too for looks, however mine is not. Mine is temporary until I can get a lid. I am a contractor so function is most important; bigger the better, most secure locking system, handles on outside of bed so I can still access them with the bed piled full.
70CopperZ28 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I had UWS in-bed type boxes in all of my trucks and they are the best built IMO. If you don't use your bed all that much I would suggest an in-bed type box instead of over the rails. It looks better & you still have decent bed space. I acts like a trunk rather than a tool box. You would be surprised how much junk you can fit in there (lugage, tools, etc)!
jhoff8487 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I'd suggest looking at the "Best" boxes by TSC. The "Best" line is made by Delta and are their Professional Boxes but at a much cheaper price because it says TSC on the outside. However, the warranty is through Delta and when you pop the lid open there is the Delta Sticker with model number, serial number, etc. I've had mine for a few months now and I absolutely love it. It's not low profile, but I found with my truck and how close I am to the back window anyway(regular cab), it doesn't seem to matter much. I got mine on sale for about $340 bucks OTD and it is an excellent box. Just read about the Delta Pro Series and get the "Best" series at TSC...they're the same thing but with substantial price differences. I'll try to snap a pic of mine sometime by the end of the week to show.
j.roffel Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I forgot to mention I got mine at last sale price at canadian tire through a friend, so I paid 300 cad for my delta.
509vista Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I prefer the Adrian Steel tool boxes. The locking mechanism and opener is on both sides of the truck for easy access. as apposed to in the truck bed. I have one on my RCSB if you would like to see it. It not the low pro. I couldn't seem to find any good pics online.

Truckin2003 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I recommend UWS tool boxes. I have 5 of them in my work truck. 1 cross box, 2 side boxes and 2- 5 drawer boxes. Went with the black powder coated diamond tread. UWS boxes seem to be top quality for sure.
