Selling Truck

Recommended Posts

I listed my '01 GMC Sierra on Autotrader.com a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have gotten several calls from "finance companies" wanting me let them advertise my truck for a fee. They say they can get top dollar for my truck since they will market and provide financing for it.

Is this the latest scam when trying to sell a vehicle?

Tell them if they want to sell it so bad, they should buy it from you. That'll shut'em up.

I'm asking $8700 and they were like you could sell it for $11,500 if you let us advertise and market it for you. It will only cost you $499 for us to do it for you. I was like well why don't you buy it for 9K then you sell it for yourself and keep the difference. They were like no we don't buy vehicle we just finance them. I was like whatever goodbye!

If you want them to stop calling you, send the $499. That'll be THE LAST TIME YOU HERE FROM THEM!! Oh, and you'll still won't have sold your truck!!

I listed a truck in auto trader last year also. and the same people called me wanting to advertise it for me $499.00 i did'nt do it either, biggest bunch of hogwash i've ever heard. and you will get more calls from different companies that do the same thing. I think i had 3 different ones to call me lol.

and a side note, it's tough to sell in the auto trader anymore BECAUSE Dealers  have took it over and you're just competeing against them and they offer financeing which is what most people are looking for anyway... I did'nt have any luck at all, ad run for 3 months and i had it priced way below KBB.

FYI- I had a 2007 Nissan Titan, I ended up trading it for my 2007 Silverado

Good luck hopefully you can sell it.

I tend to agree - the auto trader has been almost completely taken over by dealers - especially the truck trader. May I ask why did you trade an '07 truck for another '07 truck? Especially one half ton for another? Problems with the Titan? Bad fuel economy?

Bad fuel economy -- 12 mpg if you treated it real easy. but it did have the horses under the hood and torque.. it just a matter of if you want fuel economy or power ? Don't get me wrong my Silverado is not real good on gas by no means , but is better than the Titan. and i just simply did not like the Titan as good as i like the Silverado
