Looking for some insight before I call my dealer. I live in balmy MN and the weather here lately has been a little "nippy". Here are a few things I have noticed:

1. When temps are below 10-15 degrees or so, I hear a "clunking" in the front end. It sounds like a loose shock or suspension component. It does it mostly at low speeds while traveling over small bumps and/or snow-packed roads. I park my truck in an insulated non-heated garage, temps stay in the high 20's minimum in there, so when I leave in the mornings it is non-existant, but once I have driven a few miles in the cold (this morning was in the single digits above zero) it will start doing it. Also, when I leave work and the truck has sat outside all day, it will do it right away. So, I have concluded it is definitely cold-weather related. Anyone have any ideas?

2. In extreme cold (extreme for MN anyway), such as below zero temps (F), I have noticed on 2 seperate occasions that after my truck has sat outside in these temps, the little fan above the driver's head in the headliner for the Auto Climate control will make noise. It only did it for a couple of minutes both times this has happened, then it quiets down. I have heard similar complaints about this noise, but I understood it to be a more constant problem and not temp related in the cases I have read about. This issue will likely be hard to replicate for the dealer, anyone have any ideas?

3. Early this winter, I had a loud squeel when very cold (below +15 F), like a bad beaing in the alternator or A/C compressor. Didn't sound like a belt squeel, it seemed more like metal-on-metal. This happened a few times in about a 2 week period. It has not done it recently though, not even in this last cold snap, which was the coldest of the season so far. It only did it for a few minutes after start-up and it seemed to vary in pitch/frequency with engine RPMs. Again, unless this reoccurs, I will not be able to replicate for the dealer. Anyone have any ideas here?

Thanks in advance for any experiences and/or insight. Related TSB info would also be very much appreciated.

Nope, I have an appt with the dealer late next week, but I figure the more info I can gather, the better. Especially if there are any TSBs for any of these issues.

Damn, it's only 14 degree's out there this morning. I sure hope my old truck doesn't make any unusual noise. :puke:
