I have a couple scratches on my truck(sides) from not sure what but what is the easiest possible way in removing these, they are not down through the paint just on top of the paint like as if the paint was scraped away, any idea on how to remove these or what to do, prefer it to be a do it myself job rather then goin to a dealer or what to have em removed.

I have had decent luck using some very fine wet sandpaper and some 3m rubbing compound and then putting on a coat of wax after.

I think its like 1500 or higher grit.. the rubbing compound will tell you what grit it will remoe the swirls from. It almost feels just as rough as looseleaf paper.

This will only work if the scratch is in the clear coat though.

Good luck.

Auto Zone carries scratch remover Wax. It works quite effectively on very shallow clearcoat scratches. And it leaves no scratches like rubbing compound, which is more abrasive.

Easy.... use 3m glaze and rub in pretty hard... it will come off right away

Ok I will try that, any idea where I can get that stuff ?

O'Reillys / Autozone or whatever your local auto parts store is should have it... I know I've gotten it at O'Reillys

Please, do yourself a favor, start with the least abrasive thing first to see if it s enough. Polish or Glaze, then compound then anything stronger you best know what you are doing. After it comes out work your way backwards with the products, Ex. compound, gaze or polish and wax.

Yup, at any O-reileys you can get the 3m glaze... it works really well for me. It has gotten out the toughest scratches that were on top of the clear coat!
