Nav Unit Stuck On Metric

Ok, hopefully the last issue relating to my OEM navigation unit upgrade. The unit is stuck on kilometers. I checked my DIC, and it was on metric, so I switched it to miles. But, the navigation unit is still on metric. Any ideas?

Yes.

1 mile = 1609 meters = 1.609 km or approx 1.6 km

1 km = 1000 meters

1 meter - 100 cm = 1000 mm = 1,000,000 micrometers

ok well i missed the first part of this conversation, but if this unit was recently installed, do you know for sure if the memory connection directly to the battery is good ? if that memory is not connected, everytime you turn your ignition off you will loose all power to your unit and it returns back to default when ver it is restarted. so check your memory connection, usually a yellow wire on aftermarket units..again am not sure what you have installed so i could be way off.

I don't think it is a memory issue, because all my presets and time stay the same.

Do you have the NBS or OBS (GMT900 or GMT800)?

Here is some information that may help you correct your problem:

According to the new GMLAN system, the language is controlled by the Driver Information Center, you may have to disconnect the main battery, then reconnect it (about an hour), change the settings on the Language to English by using the following:

Press the customization button until the DISPLAY LANGUAGE screen appears on the DIC display. Press the set/reset button once to access the settings for this feature. Then press the customization button to scroll through the following settings:

ENGLISH (default): All messages will appear in English.

FRANCAIS: All messages will appear in French.

ESPANOL: All messages will appear in Spanish.

NO CHANGE: No change will be made to this feature. The current setting will remain.

This will change the information as well on the screen, then make sure that the UNITS are in english and confirm this on the DIC. Afterwards, turn the ignition key off and open the door. Once this is done, close the door and restart the system (dont have to restart the engine, only turn to the RUN position). If this does not work, then the Nav is not communicating with the Driver Information Center properly or is permanently set to Metric, which means the only way to change it will be to send it to dealer and see if they can access the main settings from the Tech II. Let me know if the above situation works for you....I know that you want the UNITS to English, but make sure to check the language as this can affect it as well.
