now that is something you just dont hear everyday! I have the factory one in my 01 Tahoe LT, it has never been used, I would part with it but can't trash that rig...man that had to be the last tape deck ever, huh??

Do you really still listen to tapes?

I don't know if you can make this work in your truck, but I have the factory head unit with tape in the HU and the seperate single CD player that fits in the spot where your tape player fits. It's from my 99 Silverado (before they switched the tape to the console and CD to HU). It's been sitting boxed up in my garage since Nov of 99 and the tape player has never been used. I don't know what these two pieces are worth but I'm hoping to get $100 for the set.

Check eBay....that's where I sold the one out of my 02.

My 2006 Silverado had a tape player and I used to use it to play my IPOD in the Silverado. My new Silverado has a AUX input for the IPOD now, so that's how I hear my IPOD now.

ahhh the days of casette...yes...Maxell Metal 90 minute...Denon HD...LOL I always used the best ones to record my black sabbath albums...and then in 1985, I was the first high school kid I knew that got a Technics CD player...and then a Sony CD for my mustang, it weighed about 7 lbs and every time I went over railroad tracks it would jump 6 songs

Well, it's not like he wants to put a reel - reel in his truck. I've converted all of my tapes to CD, but hey. I still have blank 90 minute tapes in the wrapper for anyone that wants them.

If that's all you want the tape player for, you should know that there are several aftermarket adapters (i.e. PAC, PIE, Peripheral, and USA Spec) that allow you to connect your iPod directly to your stock radio. Not only will the sound quality be MUCH better, but you'll also be able to charge and control your iPod from your stereo.

But it's hard to beat $5, just make sure you get the wiring harness that connects the deck to your stereo!

I agree. I have the Peripheral one, and I never realized how good it sounds, until I used the tape adapter in my mom's Outback today. The difference is night and day, not to mention you can control the iPod from the head unit too.

I have yet to purchase an MP3 player.. Not a heavy duty music listener, mostly listen to AM Talk Shows and I have a TON of stuff on Tape, Books on Tape, church stuff on Tape that I listen to, if I could find a quick easy way to convert tape to MP3 I would do that.. but I wonder how much longer MP3 is going to be around before it is replaced with something better...
