Hid Bulbs

I wanted to purchase HID bulbs for my Sierra projector headlights but was not sure where all to get em or what to get I thought about the blue ones or the 10000K i guess it's called, anyone suggest where to get em(other then Ebay) that has good prices for a pair of H1 bulbs, right now my projector headlights have halogen H1's but wanted to get these so any help is appreciated

I know nothing about the style of bulb used for these trucks, for I just purchased one. I do, however, know that 10,000K is almost purple. THe higher the number, the less light emmitted, and more purpleish color. 4500K I think is closest to true white, and 6000K-8000K will be the blue tint you are looking for.

I don't want to hi-jack his thread, but maybe someone could pm me whether or not hid's cause a bad glare from the stock 05 sierra headlight housings.. thanks

My 04 Denali resently had a light go out, so I replaced them with the 9005 Silverstar ULTRA.

The shine very white on the roadway, and blueish at angles. I am very impressed with these.

I have had Japanese made HID like bulbs in other vehicles, burning at 8500K, and I prefer the new Silverstar ULTRA.

My 04 Denali resently had a light go out, so I replaced them with the 9005 Silverstar ULTRA.

The shine very white on the roadway, and blueish at angles. I am very impressed with these.

I have had Japanese made HID like bulbs in other vehicles, burning at 8500K, and I prefer the new Silverstar ULTRA.

Just curious, where did you pickup the Silverstar Ultra and if you don't mind what did you pay for a pair of em ? I in the places near me can only find the Silverstars themselves unless the ones I got are the ultras but if i remember correctly the ultras are newer

I just bought the Philips HID conversions from these folks:

The kit came with genuine Philips ballasts and genuine Philips bulbs as well as the "adapter" cable for the type of bulb I was replacing. The installation went perfectly and only took a few minutes each. If you want the most light for driving purposes get the 4300k or 5000k as they will give you the most white light. As you increase the color temperature the light will get bluer and look cooler but there will be less actual light. As you get to 10000k the light will actually start to get purple. As you go down from 4000k the light will get yellower. The Silverstars provide excellent white light because their color temp is about 4000k or so and yhey do provide the best alternative to HID conversions. Also, if you do not want to spring the $$ for the Philips HID the McCulloch HID's are also excellent quality. I would avoid the other HID conversions.

I purchased them at Autozone. I have also seen them at o'Reileys. They run about $48 with tax.

I had 6000K bulbs in my truck, and I thought that they were too blue. I replaced them with 5300K bulbs and I think they're perfect. Almost a pure white, with the slightest hint of blue at certain angles. I can't even imagine what 10000K would look like...ugh. Silverstar Ultras are very nice; I've run them in several vehicles. They throw a lot of light and appear very white. However, they're still a halogen bulb, and don't really compare to true HID. The bottom line is that if you want a hint of blue, I'd go with the the 6000K HID bulbs.
