Air Tube Between Filter Box And Throttle Body

Recommended Posts

I opened the hood today on my '01 Yukon 5.3l to clean the throttle body because I was getting the "sticky pedal" now and then. When taking off the black molded plastic air "silencer" between the filter box and throttle body I realized how big it actually is. I know it's made that way to silence the noise the air makes as it's being sucked into the engine, but are there any benefits to having this tube be more direct from point A to point B? Does anyone make a replacement "performance" piece for this? I know of cold air systems and ram air systems that replace the whole filter and box with a conical one, but what about replacing just this plastic piece?

Yes, you can get a 'better' air-tube that will run from the factory box to the throttle body.

I have an AirRaid which replaces the factory air-box, so that won't help you much.

There are a few here on this forum that have done just that.

C&A....perhaps you can share the set-up you have.

Thanks, I just looked up the AirRaid for my application and ouch!! about $100 just for the tube (I already have a K&N panel filter)
