Tailgate

I was wondering if anyone has removed thier tailgate temporarily on the NBS models. I have the easy up tailgate option and didn't know if the tailgate could come off. If anyone knows i would really appreciate the info.

I can't tell you how to take it off but I know it comes off easily even with the "easy" option. Mine has been off twice since October (once to Line-X and once to install the camera). I was there when they removed it to do the Line-X but I wasn't watching...they had it off within 2 minutes.

Drop gate back to about a 45 degree angle. Disconnect cable clips on each side of gate. Look at right hinge point, it should have an opening at the bottom and if you lift up on the right side of the gate it will slip up and off of the hinge point. Once you clear that pin you can pull the gate to the right and it will pull off of the left pin and be free of the truck.

This will not affect the easy up spring right???

My truck did not come with this option, anyone know if you can add it on after the fact?

you would have to buy a new tailgate. As I understand it, it is integrated into the bottom of the tailgate when it is being built.

oh well. you would think for as much as I paid for the truck it would come standard...

I know, but it is a 95.00 dollar add on when new....
