Well this thread is inspired by the CDL drive I came across yesterday. yesterday morning on my way home from work I had my windows down sitin in traffic. Out of nowhere I hear " Hey!" I look over and there is this guy driving a big cdl truck with a huge smile on his face. I reply whatsup? then he says lol " I'm not even hatein on you man, your ride is clean! man that's a sweet ride." lol I just chuckled a bit and told him thanks. Other then that I always get people at gas stations, the car wash, in the street, and at the mechanics asking questions and complamenting me on my truck. I'm not trying to toot my horn but d**n I got a SL not even the high end model of my truck.. so basically I want to know how often do yall get this public feedback? if feels good doesent it?

I get compliments all the time! And every now and then since I got Rocky, people ask me "Y la Cheyenne apá?" (translation: "how 'bout the Cheyenne, pop?")

 

See, I live in Tijuana, Mexico; and in Mexico, top-end, full-size Chevy Trucks are actually named Cheyenne, and base models are still known as Silverado.

 

Anyway, when the NNBS came out a year ago, Chevrolet had a TV commercial that showed a dad and son off-roading out on a ranch in a Chevy truck, when they get to a hill, the dad points out to the scenery and says: "son, one day all of this will be yours" (supposedly dad owns all those acres of land). The son glances back at the truck, and asks: "how 'bout the Cheyenne, pop?" Thinking Jr. didn't get the big picture, again the dad points out and repeats: "son, one day all of this will be yours..." The commercial ends, with a slightly dissapointed kid (all he really wants is daddy's bad-ass truck).

so its backwards in mexico? before 1999 (U.S.) the high end trim package on the C/K trucks Silverado, the middle grade was Scotsdale, and the base model package was Chyenne...

I actually get more compliments with this truck than I do with my BMW (an '07 335i Alpine White coupe...itself a very good looking vehicle). Just proves the old adage about black vehicles!

Not a knock on BMW's, I would love one!!! However, beautiful trucks impress a much larger audience. BMW's are niche vehicles and most people do not even recognize them unless they are a BMW fan or a fan of a direct competitor. I get looks from people in all types of vehicles..cars and trucks.

how do you like the 335? My wife has a 04 330i and we have been looking at upgrading in the next month or so. What are your likes and dislikes on the car? Did you have a BMW before the 335 to compare it to? Inquiring minds....ya know?

Nope, first Bimmer. Just an outstanding car. I honestly love everything about it except the Cream Beige interior. It's an impossible color to keep clean under any circumstances, but there's something about the materials BMW uses that just seems to suck the dirt in even more. The twin turbo inline 6 in just an awesome engine. Dooooo it :rolleyes:

summary:

 

1971: New trim level names debuted, including the base Custom, the mid-level Custom Deluxe (formerly the Custom) and the Cheyenne (formerly the Custom Sport Truck).

 

1975: Trim levels were changed and now consisted of base Custom Deluxe (why a base version was called Deluxe is a mystery), Scottsdale (with cloth seats and chrome exterior trim), Cheyenne (with added insulation and exterior brightwork) and Silverado (with woodgrain interior accents, carpeting and additional exterior accents including wheel-lip moldings)

 

1982: The Cheyenne trim level was dropped, leaving the Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale and Silverado.

 

1988: Trim levels included the resurrected (and now base model) Cheyenne, mid-level Scottsdale (which added cloth seating, carpeting and additional insulation) and top-line Silverado (which had quad headlights, chrome wheelwell trim, more luxurious upholstery and full instrumentation).

yea wtf, its like talking about sex then changing the subject to septic tanks.. wtf? its just a fact, we drive the sexiest truck on the market.

 

HAHA WHAT?! I'm not sure I follow, the Bimmers are septic tanks?

      You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
