I have narrowed my choice for the bed cover i am looking for to.

Bak Flip G2 Hard Folding Truck Bed Covers-- Like this one because it fld all the way up against the cab. I have heard this starts leaking after while.

Fold A Cover G4 Elite Hard Folding Truck Bed Tonno Covers-- I have heard good things about this one.

RealTruck HARD-FLIP Multi-Panel Fold-up Truck Bed Covers--added this cause i saw it on the site.

I am just looking inputs on each one.

Have a Bakflip...It's secure but leaks like a sive. It sags in the middle under its own weight. Thus, the center turns into a pool and leaks between the plastic panels and the aluminum frames. I would not buy one of these if you need to keep your bed contents dry. Realtruck "Hard Flip" is a Bakflip.

So i guess the fold-a-cover so the best one out of the 3. If someone has another brand that is better please let me know.

I put on a BakFlip G2 this fall. So far I've been happy with it. No leaks and it has made it through a northern Michigan winter thus far no worse for wear (no cracks in the seals or anything like that).

I've heard that the original ones (G1 I guess) were pieces of crap.

The main reason I bought the BakFlip was it allows full access to the bed stake pockets.

Whatever you go with, I recommend buying some of that tailgate weatherstriping stuff to seal your tailgate. I did mine and I'm glad I did, has done a great job keeping snow from sneaking into the bed though the gap that otherwise exists between the bottom of the tailgate and the bed.

BakFlip on my next door neighbor's Titan leaks like one of its sections is missing and one of the gas shocks (riveted into the plastic) sheared off the first time he tried using it folded up. When folded it blocks the entire back glass... so no rear vision. Not at ALL a well designed item.

Extang Trifecta soft folding tonneau.. went on easy, works great so far (2 weeks), has a minor leak somewhere (probably where the hindge is for the mid-section). It has a very snug fit so it does not appear to sink / water does not puddle on it..

I have an advance cover, which is actually an improved version of the fold-a-cover. I still have not installed it - it is sitting in a box in my garage. However, it is better than fold-a-cover, because every panel is latched down when the cover is closed. I have tried the cover on to see if it would fit, and it seems pretty sturdy, so it would not sag under its own weight. The panels are not plastic, but black painted aluminum with styrofoam(?) core sandwiched inbetween, which adds the cover good insulating properties.

I cannot say if the cover leaks or not, but somebody in this forum has one isntalled and they claim no leak issues.

My experience with the folding covers, and I've sold them for several years, is:

The BakFlip. very flimsy, poor locks/latches and leaks.

Fold a Cover, not much experience with these, but have heard the locks/latches are pretty weak, and water leaks.

The best I've seen is Extangs Solid Fold. Probably the simplest operation, easiest to use/install, remove.

I had a Fold-A-Cover on my 05 Silverado. I liked it but the locks were a pain in the ass. It also leaked alittle. IMO it had a stupid lock system and it never sealed properly thus the leaking. Now I think the new G4 Elite has a different locking system so hopefully they corrected that problem. Other than that a great cover. I just had a Truxedo Low Pro QT installed on my truck today. I decided to go soft since I need access to the tool box in the back my truck.

I have the Extang Trifecta and I have nothing but good to report. No leaks its been on my NBS 07 since late Aug. I also have had other Extang products on other trucks and had good luck also.

I install all of these covers daily as I work for a truck and car accessory shop. If you have a new body style chevy or gmc DON'T get the advance cover it fits horrible, that cover that advance cover uses for that body style will fit all body style from 88 to current, except the 1500 crew from I believe 04 to current is the same part number also. Fold a cover did they research and redesign the cover for the Gmt 900. If you are leaning towards any of these cover, Buy the G4. It is a very nice cover, all the latches are more like a car door latch more secure. The handle is flush mounted into the cover and the key is offset from it. The fold a cover will lock the tailgate to the cover where the advance will not. You have to buy a seperate locking tailgate handle unless you have the locking tailgate. If you have any questions you can call me at the store and I will explain the pro and cons of both covers. My number is 616-365-2080 ask for Joe

    • Actually, it probably was the brakes.  It's weird the way the messages came across, but I took it to the dealer thinking that something was wrong with the sensor and in fact, the rear brakes were shot.  What I don't understand is why the messages never said, your brake pads are low.  First I got the message I posted above, taking about new pads being detected.  Then I got a message saying that the system needed repaired.  It never said, change your brake pads.
    • Did the KYBs keep it the same height in the front? I was concerned that pre-assembled assembly would raise it up an inch to standard non-z60 height.. I guess which it would make the rake 1 inch instead of 2 inches.
    • Thank you for keeping the train on the tracks and for a thoughtful engagement. I enjoyed the reflection on a previous stance to refine and improve your position. I like that inquisitive flexibility about you Atlas.    No the process isn't sterile. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of miles of piping, vessels, pumps. Chevron, the people I worked for, were keenly aware that there is a market for what is known as their "ISOCLEAN" line of lubricants. These are lubricants that are the same as those sold bulk that are further processed by filtration to a level your particular application demands. They will filter and package and provide lab documentation as required. Do not kid yourself. Every gallon of oil that goes into a Chevron Turbine, reciprocating compressor, generator is prefiltered and tested before being charged. Lest wise it was when I was there in the plants I worked in.    There are requirements set by manufactures for the cleanliness of the oils used in their equipment. OTR such as CUMMINS has standards shared with customers on this. Commercial interest selling to Ma and Pa do, but don't share that information. Not even upon request but internally, they do exist.    The GM study sited, (Graph from Machinery Lubrication in previous post) only shows "relative" importance.  I find that fascinating. By constructing the graph like this they admit there are dozens of factors in engine life and via scientific method determined the effect of 'relative cleanliness' on engine life not in miles but in 'FACTORS'. This allows a certain amount of reverse engineering does it not?   They even provided some touchstones. Beta 75 as a reference point. Wonderful stuff!!   Smaller blenders CAN and some DO take the time and effort to do better than a refinery or large bulk blender, like Warren Oil, in improving the "in the can" cleanliness. No I don't have a list but testing could generate that information.    Again, but one of several levers we can pull to improve engine life. The simplest is keeping a clean work station while doing your own oil changes.
