My Plan? Total sleeper. Gonna paint it in primer at most(rattle can), probably splotchy, with dark tint. It'll look like crap but everything will be put into mechanicals. I want to hide it in the junk yard, but lay the smack down on a drag strip OR road course. Some of you may have already seen my ad in For Sale/Wanted. And hopefully keep it as cheap as possible.

Plan on basing it on a 3rd Gen Camaro

Engine idea is inspired by the 6.0L GM Truck engine build up Hot Rod did a last year. Figure if I hunt enough, I could get most what I want from some salvages, with some F.A.S.T. goodies on the induction side of things. maybe run some Magnaflow Performance cat's and some semi-quiet mufflers to keep things from getting too loud.

You could call it a "Junk Yard Z06". It'll be a challenge, but it'll be fun.

Sounds awsome, I read all about that buildup that HotRod did and that was a pretty sweet motor... didnt it make around 750 hp. when they got done?

Sleepers rock!

If I was to build a fast car that sounds like a way that I would want to do it, build it fast and make it look slow.

Snake you need to get a early 70's Nova they are a great body style and make great sleeper cars. I still prefer Chevelles but they are a lot heaver but they do have a full frame under them to start with. But the Nova can be a cool build.

well, I had a buyer for the Talon lined up but the people backed out (no worries, I have their $180 deposit for me holding it two weeks off the market. :D ). But I'm keeping an eye out anyway. I figure it may take some time to find one that's just the right amount of junk without being trash. My wife loves the idea, She knows I really miss the BMW(Camaro was more stress than fun, couldn't let it out of my sight, plus I bought it mostly done already, the BMW was all mine.)

I saw one on ebay that fit the bill perfectly, but don't want to get something until the Talon is gone...I'll really get on the ball once the Talon is gone. If it's not gone within a few months, I may get bored and start playing with it......so hope it sells quick guys!

Hey man, I know a guy with an '88 IROC roller that he's wanting to unload. No engine/trans...He says the body has some rough spots.

Here's the kicker though...It's a vert. Pretty rare evidently.

Let me know if you're interested, and I'll put you two together. :D

Here's you a junk yard build:

Cliff's: 1978 Ford Fairmont, bone stock 5.3l w/ Z06 cam, MP70 turbo @ 15 psi, TH400, 600rwhp. That should decimate Strip, street, and if your suspension & tires are good, track. You'd probably want a stick shift obviously for track use, or a gigantor tranny cooler. Actually I think you can swap in a manual valve body (or something like that) so you can use a ratchet shifter on the TH350/400 and shift manually.

Screw that noise. THIS is the ultimate sleeper.
