samk01 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Hey everyone. New fella here. I found the website while trying to find some info that i cant find out any where else. I figure I will give everyone else a crack at it. I want to switch out my stock 2004 cassette/CD XM Bose package stereo. I want to get the CD and XM with MP3 stereo from some other 04-06 model The parts guy said that he could not find what I wanted, bt that if i had someone with the same radio of what I want, he can look up the part # My request is that if you have this unit, he says I need the last 8 digits/letters of the VIN, so he can ID the part. I hope someone here has the stereo I am describing. thanks all in advance. Sam
SSN720 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 You won't find one for a Silverado/Sierra. GM only put that unit in the Colorado/Canyon and possibly the Cobalt. Look on EBAY and do a search. Some have never been used. You will need the dealership to "unlock" the radio once you install. MP3 became available on the 05 and I thought the 07's support both MP3 & WMA. It is only available w/ a single disk player. The GMT 355 platform also never had a bose option that I'm aware of either. Hope this helped. (former chevy colorado owner)
samk01 Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Right, I agree with what you said. But, I dont care that it is only single disc. Definitely dont care about cassete. . I guess i actually am looking for the 05 or 06 part number. I need the last 8 VIN for anyone with an 05 or 06 MP3 and XM playing stereo. The dealership did tell me that I can put in any radio 03-06. Since they are all the same exact dask console and setup. If any one has one. please let me know Sam
thecraft Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 You could try looking at Replacement Radios.com, but they want $200. Personally, I would start looking for an aftermarket head unit.
hockeyfan39 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Yeah dont waste your money buying a stock unit. After market ones are vast improvement over the stock ones you have so much more control over audio settings. And the vast majority of them are all now xm/sirous ready. I'm currently running a pioneer deck in my truck and it works great. Alpine is also a good brand as well.
