I Need Help Deciding

so what does the denali have over a v max besides a 6.2 engine and six speed tranny?

That's pretty much it. And it looks different, front grill, and it comes fully loaded, costs more, etc. Only options are sat nav, sunroof, rear dvd, and wheels.

Denali is either 4x2 or AWD. Vmax is either 4x2 or 4x4 (real 4wd with transfer case).

Denali is really a "street" truck and is not really designed for off-road or real heavy use. Not knocking the Denali, I love that truck. I just preferred a real 4x4 over AWD.

So as a newbie, is that a similar argument between the Avalanche and a 1500 (either Silverado or Sierra)? Just beginning to look for my first truck since we're up in the far north and I will want to tow a fishing boat and snowmobile trailer.

I was in the same predicament several weeks ago. I wanted an SLT 6.0 VortecMax, but the closest trucks were over 120 miles away from here. One of my cooworkers cousins is a sales manager at a local GMC dealership so I went up to check out what he had and sure enough there was a brand new Silverbirch Denali with 18's. I took it out for a drive and did some wheeling and dealing and got it down to the price i wanted so I pulled the trigger. It has a little more than I really need, but with the AWD and s**tty conditions we've had lately, I have 0 regret about my choice.

IMO it all comes down to how you use ur truck. First if you wanna tow more than 8500lbs get the MAX. Also if you drive your truck in harsh enviroment conditions...MAX is the choice since you have 4WD and 4LO. But if you want the truck for everyday driving to show off and always keep it nice and clean go with the Denali...its a beautiful truck, the only extra options is 6.2L, 6spd tranny, and a heated steering wheel. All the rest of the options you can get in the SLT MAX. Also the interior of Denali is more sophicated looking than SLT MAX.
