Chime When Parking Brake Is On

well my parking brake is tweaking. When I pull the brake and it is not engaged it reads on the dash like it is punched in. Well this causes my truck to make a chiming sound which is annoying when I don't turn my stereo up and I'm driving over 5mph. Just wondering if anyone knows which fuse or which set of fuses to pull to disable that speaker. I have a '99 reg cab round body style. I'm going to replace my parking brake shoes when I do the brakes but untill then I want to stop the annoying chime.

Not sure on the fuse, it probably controls some other innocuous item like the antilock brake system. :dunno: Have you checked the plunger switch that the parking brake lever presses when disengaged? Usually a screw adjustment, not sure on the '99.

I think I know what you are talking about. In the inside of the truck there is a small screw or bolt that actually came out of the hole but it's been too dark lately when I get off work. I will check it out hopefully it is simple. Thanks for the advice....I think it happend after I got my clutch pedal removed and replaced maybe they unscrewed something and didn't put it all back together

Replacing the brake pads has nothing to do with this. Its at the sensor on the actual parking break pedal

that chime is the same chime for your headlights and seatbelt etc so its not easy to bypass

Yes I know replacing the p-brake pads will not stop the chime. But working a 15hr day I don't see much time replacing the pads or killing that chime. I was looking for a shortcut to temp fix the annoyance. Now when I get around to changing the pads I will fix the pedal and the chime will go away. I see what you saying there isn't an easy way to disable the speaker without finding the wires that go into it and cutting them.

this may not apply to ur car at all but generally on the side of the parking break pedal somewhere there should be a sensor with a plug, unplug it and ur chime should go away, if the chime is on for good when u unplug it short the terminals
