2008 Sierra Regular Cab Standard Bed, I have been averaging 17.5MPG around town and 23.5MPG on the highway (70mph), not bad for a full size truck.. What is everyone else getting for MPG ?

There are several threads covering MPG for the newer trucks. Give search a try.

X2 and the dealer told me the v6 has same mpg as the 5.3 LIES!

2007 RCLB 5.3 w/ AFM & 3.42 gears 2wd.

This is 80% city all under 65mph but a good majority stop and under 40mph. I was averaging 14-15 in the summer running 87 octane. In the winter before my latest mods with 500lbs in the bed I was getting about 9.5 mpg with 87 octane. Now, with my tune, CAI, and 93 octane I got 12 on my last tank. I think I'll do better next time too since I couldn't keep out of the throttle after getting the tune. After I remove the 500lbs if sand in the bed it should be even better still. After that its all downhill with mud terrains and a lift

Guys those numbers are pretty bad. You both have 5.3s right? I live in DFW and most of my driving is city driving. I avg 16-16.5 in the city and 18+ on the highway. Got 20 once but of course I drove about 60 mph for 100 miles or so to get it. At 75 mph I get 18.

I have the 3.42 rear end, what do you have? I don't see any reason that your mileage would be that much worse than mine.

My truck is a NBS Silverado CC Z71 (2wd though) completely stock.

1999 GMC Sierra Std cab stepside w/ v6, auto, and 3.42. I get right at about 20 mpg, mostly highway miles. It's been very consistent for the last 280,000 miles. I can get over 500 miles to a tank.
