Well, Just want to introduce my self! Hi my name is justin got this here gmc 2500 2wd beast! Got some questions on it. It sat for ten years in a field, out in the sun, mice, hornets. all tires but one was good. it was on empty. put 2.5 gallons in it, put lil in carb, checked fluids, all good fired right up!

Now I need to change all fluids, do the usual! I want it to become a daily for putting around in. Any ideas on where to start? does it have a tranny filter? ill get the tranny number up in the morning. Ill be here checking this so take a stab at her! Its ruff i know! Also, where would i be able to find info on recalls. someone said something about ball joints, wonder if im in that cat.?

Doesn't look so bad. Why was it sitting so long? Is it a 4 speed or 5 speed? Be a good idea to change all the fluids. Have fun with it. Oh yeah it will like gas.

welcome aboard, if that thing sat in a field for 10 yrs. I'd definately inspect your brake and fuel lines. What's in it, 350 or 305? Either way, it will love to drink gas. Good luck with it.

I don't know what you could do. I've had 350's in every truck I've ever owned, and I would get the same mpg with or without a load on it.

Change it! I had a 82 4x4 with a 400 turbo trans. (automatic). It had a filter on it and was easy to change. Drain it, take the pan off and you should be looking at the filter. Mine was almost the size of the pan and really thin. I believe it was just held on by a rubber hose leading into the guts of the trans. It just pulls right off. Hope this helps.
