How Long Do Factory Orders Take?

I was just wondering how long the average time is to build and get a factory built GMC Sierra 1500? Also, are factory orders on hold because of the American Axle strike?

Thanks

My local dealer said they have been getting GMC Sierra 1500's within four weeks of order in the St Louis area. He continued by saying they have not recieved any information as to any delays due to the axle strike / plant shutdown. But I don't see how they couldn't have some lengthly delays due to this situation.

Ordered my '07 on Jan.11th,It was built Mar.5th and delivered Mar.13th.

However I've waited as long as six months for a special order truck to come in (My '91 & '97)

And yes,With the strike all orders will be delayed for sure.

All GMT900's and all other truck platforms are shutdown. Don't expect a settlement soon. It may be summer before there is a settlement. Might be a good time to buy a car with gas prices already at $3.45 average. Cant wait for my CTS Cadillac to get here on 3/30/08. :-)

i put in an order for an 08 sierra rcsb z71 on March 5th....On march 11th my order was checked and i was given a build week of March 24th....so now i am confused-are they building on a limited production schedule or not?

I went to the dealer and ordered my Tahoe on Feb 11th. The order actually went in 2 or 3 days later. The Tahoe arrived at the dealer on Feb 27th. It was about 2 wks to the day from time of order until delivery it all depends what they are making I guess.

My 2000 Silverado took just under 4 wks from order to delivery

As far as us dealers know,The plants are totally shut down...They can't build any trucks without the axles.

Now we did get an Escalade in today, but it was built a week-and-a-half ago at the Arlington,TX plant, and the carrier driver told me it was shut down now because of the strike.

One other thing Mark,The truck you have ordered, being a 1/2-ton regular-cab,will be built at either the Ft.Wayne,In. plant or the Pontiac,Mi. plant.
