Jimmy's Still Driving Me Nuts!

Ok, hopefully this will be my last time I come on here for this Jimmy-its up for sale....however, since I've done a complete tune up, coil and all, and replaced the u joints its been running and driving much better, but now that spring has hit i've been having stalling problems. I drive about 25 miles highway to work, and at first it was starting to stall when i would come to a stop when I get off the highway and the engines at lower rpms-the check engine light does not come on. This went on for a few days. The weather cooled off and it stopped stalling. Well today it got up to 80 degrees-it stalled 3 times on the highway, and tried to stall about 8 times while on the highway-the times it didnt stall completely i would lose about 2000rpm, and pump the crap out of the gas, and the rpm would come back up. I get off the highway, and of course it stalls a few more times...and the check engine light still doesn't come on until its stalled...are my cats clogged? fuel injectors? fuel pump? lol wanna buy it?

Sounds like it's overheating...I'd check the thermostat. Very least, check your radiator fluid levels.

will it run fine if you hold the throttle open a bit?

not sure if jimmy has an EGR valve? but if so stalling coming off the highway or at stop lights is a classic stuck EGR valve symptom.

sounds like EGR prob. though its also good to check on other parts like fuel pump; oxygen sensor; fuel filters; low transmission fluid; weak spark. My dad's GMC Jimmy had the same problem just a week ago, - the fuel pump and filters being the culprit.

if it is stalling when you come to a stop it sounds like the torque converter is staying locked in OD, i have no idea where the plug is on the jimmy but you can unplug it and stop it from going into OD. that helped 2 of my vehicles over the years..

When my cat went out in my 92 Sonoma GT it stalled on the highway with me when I let off on the gas. It scared the crap outta me too when it happened because I was outta 45 miles from home going to a friends house. It died on me getting off the freeway and it took a few trys to get it started again. After it had some time to cool off I went home and it started out ok but once it got hot it started crapping out again. In short I had I basically had it floored all the way home and I barely hit 60mph. Once the cat was replaced no more problem.
