Gentlemen,

 

I have been using the rainex stuff you put in your windshield washer. This stuff is great. If you are going above 55 or so, the glass just clears itself and you wonder if you should even turn on the wipers, even in a heavy rain.

 

I rarely endorse products but you should really try this stuff. It works. It is a definite safety enhancement.

+1. Maybe I'll give the washer fluid a try. I've seen it in the stores, just never gave it much thought since I use the original.

ahh that stuff is alright i use the stuff in the squirt bottle and just put some in my washer fluid = i make my own

i have the fluid, and the wipers and they are $hit. THey are all streaky and cloudy from new, and still are the same. Never will I again purchase Rain-X products.

Something is wrong... I've used it on more vehicles than I can count for many years and it has worked flawlessly.

 

EDIT: I don't know anything about their wipers though... they may be farmed out junk from some Chinese manufacturer just to cash in on the name.

Never much used it on newer vehicles, but I have a classic Mustang (yea, a Ford so sue me )with a 1 speed windshield wiper that I neven have to turn on in the rain if I use the stuff...great product

Yeah, the Rain-X stuff you apply to the windshield works quite well, just doesn't last very long. I got tired of having to keep applying it over and over again. Silicone wipers such as the PIAA's make a good substitute. As you use them, they leave a very thin coat of silicone that helps the water bead up and roll off much easier. You can even run those things on a dry windshield without any issues.

 

Now the Rain-X washer fluid kinda sucks. I haven't used it on any of my vehicles, but I've seen others who have, and it's just messy. Only seems to work well if the glass is perfectly clean. Which is kinda pointless really.

I usually put a layer of wax on the windshield. It's a pain but the water defintely beads up and rolls off alot like Rain-X.

Funny, you are endorsing it, cause I am trying to figure out how to get the stuff off my window for good. It works pretty good in the summer, but in the window it makes the window all streaky and takes too long to clear up. Anyone know what will get this stuff off my window?

I would try a light solution of vinegar and water. Do it when you are washing your truck to make sure it doesn't sit anywhere on your paint.

I even tried carb cleaner, lacquer thinner and paint thinner to get the streaks off my windshield. As a last resort I used a clay bar and it worked great.

Rain-x works great on side and rear windows. DON'T use too much and wipe off with a good micorfiber on a clean window (I like Invisible glass to clean). Don't put it on your front windshiled as it will make your wipers chatter. I use the Orange Rain-x 3-n-1 washer fluid from walmart to keep it clean. To polish your windows check out Autoglym glass polish...you'll never go back!

 

Steps:

1: clean with invisible glass, dry with microfiber towel

2: polish with autoglym, , let dry, polish with microfiber towel

3: apply rain-x, let dry, polish with microfiber towel

 

For front windshield and all interior windows, just do steps 1 and 2...
