Optimal Tire Pressure For Long Trip

So I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow for 1300 miles, 2005 2500HD 6.0L 4x4. I have 245/75/16 that say 80psi cold on them. What is the optimal tire pressure for gas mileage, etc ?

Optimum pressure is suppose to be whatever the truck has labeled on the door, not the max pressure labeled on your tire. With that said, I would go with about 40 PSI.

Hmm OK...door says 60PSI for the front, 80 PSI for the rear ?

 

I think I'm gonna go with 55 in the front, 60 in the rear...

40-45 psi will net you good mileage and ride as long as you aren't running loaded.
