Hey all,

just curious as to where the accessory wire(color, and location) is in my truck.

I am trying to hard wire a scanner to power on when i turn the key into the accessory position.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

yah im looking for the same thing, i was looking at the fuses and tehre is an accesorie 20 amp fuse, but there is soooooo many red wires coming out of the back so who knows which one it is, im going to phone around tomorrow and see if anyone knows, they might have to do the same with a aftermarket deck install too cuase the power into the decks constant and theres a relay in the factory deck...

the part you need is a remote wire converter, you could splice into a ignition wire but when you turn the key off the stereo will keep playing and your amp will shut off until you open the door, the remote wire converer takes a power, ground and speaker wire and converts it so when theres power going threw the speaker it will power the remote wire, most electronic stores dont carry them or didnt know what it was, i phoned a car audio only shop and they told me thats what i need and how it works.

Can't be found! Atleast that was my luck when I tried to wire my radar dector. I took the whole dash apart and went to 3 different dealerships and no luck. They said it was there.

yah ok, the set up i tried first was crap, had to tap into the speaker wires and it only would put of 1.5 volts and then the stupid remote wire adapter no one has, so i went to a car audio only shop, and they got me a AOEM-GM1416 converter by PAC, it plugs into the deck not splicing into the speaker wires, and it has a remote wire on it, it puts out 6 volts to your rcas and has 4, 2 front and 2 back its super easy just plug and go, and it puts out amazing sound that i had to tune down my amp compared to when it was pluged into a deck wiht sub outputs.
