Flex Fuel?

I still have my window spec sheet/sticker that came with the SUV when I bought it in 2003, saying the Yukon XL has flex fuel capabililty. Its a 5.3L V8 and a Z VIN number.

 

I stopped at the dealership after all these years and asked if its E85 flex fuel capable and he looked at the gas cap and said since it is not yellow then no it is not!!!

 

How can I find out for sure, or is the yellow gas cap the indicator?

The original window sticker is a much better indicator than the fuel cap color. It should also have a sticker inside the fuel door stating E85 compatibility if I am not mistaken.

Your alright to run E85,The 5.3 VIN code "Z" engine is E85 capable,They didn't start putting the Yellow gas caps on until the last year and half.

You might want to find another dealer,If they didn't know your Yukon was able to run E85 who knows what else they "don't know"!!

Yep,Its going bye-bye when the inspection is up in August....I hate it but its just not worth putting any more money into,The Pa. winters have taken its toll underneath the car,its rusted two holes through...which have become one huge humugous hole!!

The car was undercoated when new by the dealership before we bought it,but I think thats part of the problem,I think it trapped moisture and dirt under there.

My Dad has had many cars that were not undercoated for years with no rust,Just one more reason why I do not like undercoating/rustproofing,but this one did have a "harder" life than his other cars did!

A couple weeks ago when I was driving it one of the coil packs went out and it started missing,Plus it needs front pads and rotors.

Theres a junkyard up from where I work thats paying 300 bucks for cars if you drop'em off,so thats what I'm going to do...drop it off and get 300 bucks!

It will be a sad day for sure A lot of memories with that car,But it'll have a better life in car heaven,I heard cars don't rust up there!!
