Larger Tire Size And Speedometer Is Off.

I put new tires on my truck and went from a P245/70R 17 to a P265/70R 17. Can the computer be reprogramed at the dealership for the larger tires to help the speedometer?

You could have gone to 265/65/17 and had the wider tire and retained the same wheel outer diameter as the stock 245/70/17.

yes .. you can take it to a dealership... they have the capability.. now if they choose to do it.. is up to them! or u can get a hypertech programmer.. and get a lil more power.. and have the speedo adjusted for the new tires. Your call.

You are only talking about a difference of 3.5%. That equates to about 2 MPH at 60MPH. I'm not sure how much difference it would make recalibrating it given the tolerances built in to the factory speedometer. No speedometer is right on the mark.

Eh, I'd still get it adjusted. Just about any handheld tuner or custom tune can adjust for the tire size. If you're not up for a tune, then sure, dealer can do it, or any shop with a Tech II or equivalent hardware.

Good idea, the Hypertech programmer sounds like a good product.
