Hey guys...As many of you know I'm the parts manager at a GM dealer, and we of course also have a body shop,we work on all makes and models of vehicles, including Toyota's (One of our sister stores is a Toyota dealership)

Anyway we have an '08 Tundra coming in next week for some body work, one of the parts it needs is the hitch platform,And you wouldn't believe what it cost for a hitch for one of those things......It list for $1,345.19 :cold:

Heck even my cost is $946.20

And thats just for the hitch platform itself,no bolts,no wiring, the bolts are another $60 bucks if you need'em.

They sure are proud of there hitches

I've been in the business long enough that prices don't usually "surprise" or "shock" me but thats ridiculous :shakehead:

Hell one for a GM truck is only a couple hundred bucks,if that, and you get the bolts and wiring. :nopity:

Toyota has crazy prices on alot of stuff. This winter I got my wife a '08 Toyota RAV4 V6 (great little suv, my wife loves it and heck even I think it is a nice car and our last fill up we were getting 23mpg city drive with a 3.5L V-6 I can't complain). But I looked at getting a hitch for it to pull our little popup and they want $479 for the hitch and then $139 for the wiring, they didn't say anything about bolts so who knows what they would charge me for that!

Oh and the mudflaps were $99 at the dealr for 4, but E-bay was my friend all 4 for $50 :shakehead: Yeat I only spend $30 for all 4 on my truck and $156 for my hitch!

I just don't understand Toyota's parts pricing!

It's funny, I was just on tundra solutions today browsing, and I could not believe the amout of problems people are posting. A guy posted recently that his rear end is shot. He admited he did a fair amount of four whelling and pulling out stuck trucks, but commented that his silverado was much better. $1300.00 dollars for a hitch, you have to be kidding me.

Maybe because it doubles as a structural frame member for that Triplejunk frame? :shakehead:

The 12,000 lb hitch from Reese is $313.00. Just curious, how much is a receiver hitch for a Chevy if you get it through a GM dealer? I'll be it's still a lot more than through Reese or Draw-Tite. Those kinds of parts are always high through a dealer.

8 dollars.

But for you, they'll give you a deal.... $2319.29

A GM hitch package for a 2000 Silverado is only $195 bucks, and that gives you everything you need..nuts,bolts,wiring,etc.

Well, that's better than I had expected! I do agree, the price for the Tundra hitch is way outta line, but if someone doesn't want to shop around or just has to have Toyota parts, that's their problem, eh?
