Sound On Rear Leaf Springs

Recommended Posts

What sound? Everything makes a noise...Try spraying WD-40 on them and see if that helps.

IIRC it is because of the leaf springs sliding aginst each other, and can be remidied with a nylon strip. Someone may come in behind me and correct me.

My truck, an 01 1500HD has it, but it's a truck, so I don't really care that much.

Not sure how they'd be sliding against each other? Leaf springs have a center bolt that keeps the whole pack in the same position...It may just be the flexing from hitting bumps and dips. Mine is more pronounced with the add a leaf, but I didn't put grease on it so I guess it's to be expected.

I use Graphite spray. I spray them about once a year.

pretty sure rancho sells the nylon strips to put between the leafs with the hole drilled in for the center bolt..... but it will require you taking your leaf pack apart....

Its called axle wrap...................

The sound is from the ends of the leafs hitting each other.

The hole in the end of the springs is for rubber bushings which

don't last long or at least till the warranty runs out !!!!!!!!!!

Some auto store may sell replacements or many guys have rigged

up their own...........

Do a search for "axle wrap".
