I am having an intermittent problem with my factory installed remote start on my 2007 Sierra crew cab 2wd. Sometimes it will start and immediately shut off. It will not start again but the lights flash like it is going to. It seems to only do this in the morning or when leaving work after it has been sitting no matter what the temperature is outside. It will start every time with the key. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!!

Is your "Check Engine" light lit? It will disable the remote start anytime a Check Engine light is on. Also, your hood has a switch and if that is open or faulty, the remote start won't work.

Somewhere there is a TSB on this. It states something to the effect that if you push the remote start or any other button more than one time (one lock push and one remote start hold) then the truck sees that as a signal to stop. I will try to find it and put it up here.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers of GM vehicles equipped with the remote starting may have commented that their vehicle at times fails to continue running following the initial first few seconds of a remote start.

Recommendation/Instructions:

In several cases that have been investigated, it was determined that the customers were performing multiple applications of the lock button on the RKE and/or repeatedly cycling the lock and unlock buttons immediately prior to pushing the remote start button. Customers should be advised to review the directions for remote start in section 2 of their owners' manual and only activate the lock button once prior to pushing the remote start button. Repeated and numerous button pushes immediately prior to a remote start can be interpreted by the vehicle as a request to shut off a remote start.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
