Looking To Order A 2009 Sierra 1500

I'm ready to order a 09 sierra crew cab. I want the 6.2 with the 6speed.

 

Does anyone have experience in ordering new trucks?

I've only bought one truck in my life and this was a 98 ranger that was on the lot.

 

What should I watch out for?

 

I'm debating on 4x4 or not?

 

I plan on getting a fishing boat soon and don't know if I will really need the 4x4?

 

What do you think I'll pay for this truck?

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

4x4 on wet boat launches can some in handy or if you drive to far in and off the end of the launch.

 

I made a mistake buying 4x2 ,when the road is wet ,it's so dangerous...buy a 4x4 for sure!

From your description I believe what you had in mind is the Sierra Denali currently this is the only 6.2L with 6-Speed Trans in the light duty class, I have not heard of GM offering a 6.2L with a 6-Speed Trans for the 2009 model year and the biggest engine GM offer for the regular Sierra 1500 is a 6.0L with 4-Speed but these are really hard to find on the lot (at least in Central IL). And the Denali comes in either 4x2 or 4x4 I high recommend 4x4 because the power of these new engines is no joke. To give you an example, I just bought a 2008 Sierra 1500 5.3L Z71 4x4 Ext. Cab and forgot to put to turn on the on demand 4x4 after a rainy day and had a really fun ride coming around a turn.

common ,it was bridgestone 20 inches, its too much power ,with a empty box ,theres no tire that would handle it in a 4x2?

Ahh, well those aren't too bad then. But there are better all-season tires out there, they just cost a bit more, of course.

 

Doesn't your truck already have traction and stability control to help out a bit?

4x4 for sure, no debate. No buyers for 2x when you sell. Attempt to get the most knowledgable salesmen and not an order taker. I've ordered a few in my day, no biggie, but have made some little mistakes ieee.... "want hd shocks? only $100", "OK", first ride=wholly molly this thing rides like a dump truck!!!! +200 and 2 hours to fix.

      How many years have I pointed out every point in that link to the folks here and been avalanched with criticisms and outright hostilities at times? I ran counter to even the great CUSTOMBOSS and Lake Speed Jr and the half dozen experts on YouTube and in the final.....GM, Physics (Stribeck) backs that Grumpy old Bear.    Honestly, I never said a thing engineering hadn't studied silly and laid in concrete during WWII. But I'm old, the information is old and yet, the Laws of Physics are eternal.    Okay there is one exception. I vehemently disagree with their use of the word 'tolerances' when what it meant is "clearance".   The clearance is the distance between two objects. The tolerance is the degree of acceptable variation permitted in that clearance. I.E., piston to bore clearance is 0.004" with a tolerance of +/- .0002" so the clearance is in specification if it lies between 0.0038" and 0.0042". Cutting that 'tolerance in half has ZERO impact on lubrication requirements. Makes for more difficulty in manufacturing.  But a tighter clearance 'MAY'. Depends on finish. Anyway....   It's one of those statements made by people to make themselves look smarter than they are to convince people who are as un-enlighten as they seem to manipulate their behaviors. But hey, the blind leading the blind puts them both in the pit.

      Out and about yesterday on a long Saturday drive I passed a lot of Shell stations. My preferred, so I pay attention. Lot's of small town Illinois so not six stations in three blocks like the city.    Everyone of them over a radius of say 100 miles had regular at $4.19 but one which was the one closest to home at $4.15. However Premium pricing varied greatly between 85 cents over regular to $1.50 over. I'm not counting the price of the station with the lowest regular so the reference is the same for the remainder and all within the same brand. However the spread discrepancy holds across all brands.     @txab, any thoughts on that?

      What are your thoughts? The Chevy Blazer relaunch was an epic case of 'lunchbag letdown'. Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos stick out like a sore thumb.    The AI photos do not look like a 'retro version', but shrunken Tahoes. Get away from the 'futuristic look'. I've seen two concepts. One had rectangular headlight like a Rivian and the other way to big should include dual round headlights like the early version.   If not this would look OK   At least it has GM styling (albeit the K2XX) A lot of the images floating around look like Bronco IIs or the current Bronco. Looking at the Broncos in my area (central Ontario, it seems to be a mix of 2 doors and 4 doors, 'mall rated' to ones that could go offroad.    I'm sure a AT4 and AT4X RPOs could be outfitted similar to a Rubicon if the braintrust understood the whole offroad scene. Crosing my fingers that if it does see the light that the front air dam/bumper doesn't extend below the center line of the tire...

      And overpriced. I was in the Oshawa Truck Plant when they were being built. Very few. I could count on one hand how many I've seen since
