Weak Battery

Recommended Posts

When I bought my '08 Yukon XL, I noticed that the battery seemed small. I've never had problems starting the car, but tonight I played my radio while I was getting my camper ready for our next outing. The radio was on for less than an hour and it drained the battery to the point that the car wouldn't start and then power locks wouldn't work.

I'd like to have a battery that has more reserve capacity than that, but the installation location looks to be pretty limiting. Has anyone upgraded their battery and if so, how?

I would think a yukon XL would have the spot for the secondary battery, seeing as it's the same engine bay as the rest of the 900's right? (I could be way off here). Have you looked into that?

+1. I think a buddy of mine has 2 batteries.

Yes, it has the second battery tray, but I would prefer to just have one battery, a good one. The second battery is an option though.

Check out several battery brand and see which battery with the highest CCA (cold cranking amps) rating will fit your tray. That is the one you want.

I've had the same problen with my Yukon Denali. Does does the regular size Denali have a spot for a second battery also and how does that work as far as hooking it up? Is it just like a jump start battery backup?

I dont know a whole lot about it but I know there are several different options, one being running them both at the same time I believe, but then you have to question whether your alternator can keep up with it or if you need a bigger/more alternators. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will jump in, but you could also do a search, I'm sure theres more than one topic on it...
