The Ultimate Feel Good

We've had a car show here for the last couple of days and there have been a lot of restored old cars riding around town. I have been riding around and checking them out and last night I stopped where several old Chevy's were parked so I could check them out. As I was walking back to my truck I noticed several people admiring my truck as it sit there beside all the older classics. An older gent was admiring it as I opened the door and got inside, he looked at me and said, "beautiful truck" and proceeded to walk right back to a nice 57 Chevy and got inside and drove off. My ego has been inflated ever since. I spent the day detailing it and am going fishing (riding around) again tonight.

I was going to wash/clay/wax mine yesterday, but it rained. Then I was going to do it today, but I had to work. It'll get done eventually. I hope... :D

My truck is lucky if it gets washed, let alone give it a clay bar or waxing ever. I like getting those compliments though, makes ya feel good. I once had a note left on my truck in the school parking lot that said love your truck and a phone number.

School parking lot? I wonder if she was illegal, immoral or fattening as my old man used to say!

I bought a mothers clay kit and it was the biggest waste of money ever. It said on the box removes sap, grime, etc. Made it 10x worse and still there. Kerosene is a lot cheaper.

Yesterday at the boat ramp I was loading my boat at the same time as a guy with a newer F150 Crewcab was loading his. It's a 3-wide ramp and we were right next to each other. The guy asks me if the ramp was redone because it was so nice, which it was last fall, so we talked for about a minute about the ramp. Then, as I was walking away to the dock I looked at him and said "Nice truck". You should have seen the look on his face. He was dead silent for about 3 seconds trying to figure out if I was being sarcastic or what? He then said "Thanks........you too". I am sure he was shocked to hear that from a guy with a new GMC. But hey, I didn't care, he did have a very nice black F150 and it looked good, so I let him know it. I am sure it made his day.

Today I washed my truck and waxed my wheels, bumpers, bed rails and steps with a chrome wheel wax. No clay bar or wax on the paint, I ran out of time....and ambition. But I have the Auto Butler Sealant so it's not really necessary anyway. So, I pretty much guaranteed a rainy Monday.

I gotta buy a clay bar and learn how to use it. I've not crossed that bridge yet. I'm half scared of messing something up so I've avoided it so far.

Dont waste your time I and many others have had no results. I followed the directions to a T and bar did nothing. Maybe the ones who had sucess have tips, the bar is supposed to get rid of sap and crap and its all still there, and I used the spray detailer for lube as it said.

I don't really have any sap or debris that I can see, but I've heard that there is stuff the naked eye can't see so I'e often considered doing it but I'm so afraid to mess it up. I wash it several times a week and it looks as clean as it did when new in Feb. 08.

Well I wanted to wash my truck today but I just got all the sand out of the back of it from the fire pit that I installed today!

At least I washed out all the left over sand!
