Steering Rattle Or Clunk?

I have came up with a low speed clunk or rattle in the steering wheel, seems loose , more feel than noise.

has rack and pinion gear.

Also the left front wheel seems like there is a sway bar end or something loose when a pot hole is encountered.

only on very shallow cracks and holes it will make the popping noise.

40,000 only miles and only interstate driven and maintained.

what if any could be looked at?

I have check all suspension parts and changed the shocks to new Elderbrocks.

all seems tight and Cushing under springs appear good.

Bar bushings are meaty.

Thank you , Ronnie.

Are you sure it's not the dreaded "intermediate shaft" rearing it's ugly head?

I dont know, is the " intermediate shaft", someting I should know about?

Is there a fix , and is it possible that I could preform the task? I am a retired mechanic.

Do a search here and also in the fullsize truck area on the "intermediate steering shaft" and you'll find more information than you care to know. Very common issue with these trucks.
