Fix The Old A/c Or Install A New One?

I would like a to buy a 68-72 Chevy truck, the only

problem is finding one with A/C, but even if I find one with A/C and the system has been open to the atmosphere for who knows how long, would it even be worth it to try and get it running again?? Would it just be best to eat the cost of a new installation?

 

I know it sounds like a no brainer but is a 40 yr old evaporator, condensor, and compressor worth trying to salvage?
