Yup, this isn't one of those "What tuner should I get" threads. I'm just confused at a couple of statements from his website. I'm almost 100% sure that GM will void warranties if there is a custom tune on your rig, but apparently not?

Well, guess I'd better respond before Jeff gets here. So let's get this out of the way first... Jesse is NOT a hack.

That warranty claim is likely based on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act that says manufactures have to prove that the aftermarket part you installed caused the damage in question. So by itself, it shouldn't void the warranty. Which W4M, like most other tuners, don't feel their tune is going to break anything. And they shouldn't.

But since every dealer is different, and most don't want to risk the dealer reflashing their tune, they'll return the vehicle to stock first. Not to mention, with the latest TSB's out, the dealers are certainly going to be paying a lot more attention to tunes... should something break.

As for the many satisfied customers, yes, it's true. He has been around for quite awhile and has (and still does) sell lots of tunes to many happy customers. If you search the forums, you'll find plenty of happy customers. Keep in mind it's only been somewhat recent that a relatively small group of "Jesse bashers" have come out. If you go back several months, there is nothing but positive reviews on W4M, hence how he became so popular. And on some forums, it's better or worse than others. In my experience, this is expected, and if you look around, you'll find plenty of negative comments for most tunes and even automotive products in general.

And they are all certainly entitled to their opinion, whether it's true or not. That's just the nature of the internet, and forums, to be more specific. There are plenty of other tunes they can flock over to. So you can either buy the tune that's the most popular at the moment or just go with what sounds good to you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with either choice.

Either way, as we have said many times, call the tuners if you have any specific questions. I'm sure they'll be glad to give you any information you need. Good luck!

They will now days. But, there's not much of a chance of a wait4me breaking something like a diesel tune could do though.

Wayne. You need waaay more wrenches. That clears most things up. I'm not looking to tune my truck at all, I'm pretty happy the with the way it is right now. It's a truck, not a racecar. I was just reading the site to gain some knowledge on the subject, and then was surprised to see that info in there. I'm positive that everyone wont be 100% satisfied and that there was some discrepency with the whole warranty thing.

Also, he states that he will give 150% technical and customer service. What is the extra 50%? Does it involve him using his mouth or something?

Anyways, before Jeff posts, I'll gladly say if I ever tuned my truck I would "Go to Justin at Blackbear because he is the best." But I'm not tuning my truck. Sorry Jeff.

I find it laughable that vendors make statments like "won't void warranty" when in fact if there is ever a warranty issue the vendors have no exposure whatsoever. If GM voids a warranty because of a tune are the tuners going to pay for the repairs...never happen!

I didn't mind my W4M tune, it felt good. Right now Zippy has my PCM W4M tuned and he's going to tune it himself, I'm going to wait to see what he has to say about Jesse's tune before I bash W4M, not that I want to, for the $125 it was good.

If you have an issue and need to go to the dealer, swap in the stock PCM. It's nice to have 2 PCM's...really nice. With a Duramax, from what I understand they can tell if the computer has been touched in any way shape or form, thats were I would stay away from tuning.

Forget the magnuson moss act, it's crap. If the dealer looks and recognizes a tune which is not oem, and you have an issue which they feel is related to the tune, your out of luck. I had a tune from w4m and it was crap, and I sent it back. Go to a more reputable tuner.

Did Jesse give you your money back?...........I would like to get mine back but have not inquired.

Here is my experience:

I recently purchased a tune from Jesse.....and I have to say I am not happy......when I first got it I had the crank relearn done even though no codes were being thrown......the truck was pinging like mad under load and the tranny was shifting really harsh from 1st to 2nd......I spoke with jesse and his solution was to throw parts at the truck.....new plugs, O2 sensors, air filter etc.....I found that really strange because the truck ran just fine before the tune.....anyways I threw new plugs in it and a new airfilter and still no change(as I suspected).....so I returned the tune back to Jesse for some adjustments.....got it back a couple of weeks later and now the truck does not ping at all, still shifts a bit harsh and i notice no power gains or miliage gains.....it basically drives like stock.......so wait4me will never get my vote of confidence.

Mine either, he sent me a PCM that had the threads stripped in the screw holes, and would not return my e-mails, so I chalked it up to experience and moved on.

You're all wrong!

I'm only here to defend W4M from you Jeff, not other people who have actually had the tune and want to share their experiences. They are free to make their own choice. They can keep trying (or try) to get it fixed/updated or ditch the tune and try something else. It's their $75 - $125 they are spending, not mine.

I actually had good experience with wait4me. Of course all I ever talked to was Jesse's wife. She seems to be the one who does most of the customer interactions.

I have that misfire going on now but I doubt its tune related since it started about 20K miles after I got it.

Wasn't it you that suggested BlackBearPerformance to me? Why are you with Wait4Me and suggesting BlackBear?

Because I talked to Justin a few months back when contemplating a retune. Justin answered my emails so fast and professionally I was very impressed by him. I've also been all over the internet reading about tunes and blackbear happens to be very well regarded in the performance truck area. Justin, Wheatley, Zippy, nelson are all good tuners. However Justin seems to be the most customer service orientated I have witnessed.

I probably won't go back to Jesse for a new tune in the future. it was a great $158 tune, but it is a cookie cutter one and I'm going to need more personalized tuning down the road. Just saying back for your buck it was great, but for 50 bucks more I can have a local guy with hptuners drive with me and make something better.
