Brake Booster Bad?

I've had my truck just a few weeks. The brake pedal has been strange since I got it. Spongy one time and hard to push the next. Sometimes hard at the initial hit and then spongy the rest of the way. Now I havd a vaccum leaking sound coming from the dash area when applying the brakes. Is my booster gone bad? I tried replacing the check valve in it and nothing changed.

First, I'd check the line going to the booster and make sure it has no cracks or leaks. (which was probably your first move) If not, it does sound like your booster has a ruptured diaphragm.
