I think you may see a division between "work" trucks and "casual use" trucks that will include a unibody (Pantyline like) truck that rides more car-like and gets better fuel economy. As more people that aren't real truck people buy trucks we hear whining and bitching about their trucks "riding rough" OR "making noises" OR "collecting lint"... etc.

 

Tree huggers are already demonizing truck and SUV owners in my Area. What a bunch of wacko nuts. It just makes me want to have a truck even more. Hell, I'd like to have a 3/4T 4x4 Suburban about now... and they are getting cheap!

With gas headed to $5 a gallon and expected to hit $6 next year the only people wanting a full size HD truck will be for commercial business just like it was in the 60's and prior years. Lets face it crude oil & energy is growing more costly everyday. The next generation of LD truck will be smaller & more fuel efficient. The USA imports 80% of its crude currently and in the 70's only 40% we have to conserve and not waste our natural resources..

The foreign oil countries hate the USA and until we conserve they will continue to increase oil prices.

OPEC doesn't want outrageous oil prices any more than we do. When oil gets this expensive, countries start looking toward alternatives and ways to abandon the use of oil. They might like the price to rise a little bit but they sure as hell don't want to force people away from using it altogether. The bigger issue is right here in the good ol' USA. A shitty dollar and greedy traders are what is causing the spike in fuel costs.

 

EDIT: Also, Canada is our single largest source of oil. Middle eastern countries don't even deliver 50% of the oil we consume. Canada and Africa and the Americas are our where the majority (albeit a slight majority) of our oil comes from.

I think it is only around 30% that even comes from the middle east, like mentioned most of our oil is from Canada, and here at home. The bigger problem is that its a global market, and China the largest country on the globe in land mass and population, is coming into an industrial age, that we came into over half a century ago. They are building roads and homes and buying cars at an alarming rate that is and will continue to accelerate as time moves forward. So oil produciton at home is going to be vital to our survival in the coming years. These GD, tree huggers need to be strung up in a not so friendly mannor in the trees they love so much, before they destroy our country. Thats just IMHO. LOL

Speculation is driving the market crazy. Why hasn't anybody noticed that we are paying the same amount of money for oil from Canada and our own wells as we are from the Arabs. This is an artificial crisis and the liberals are loving it.

 

I'm gonna keep driving my V8 Truck until the end of time. I can afford it and I love rubbing it in the face of leftist morons like those in the Socialist Homo-Communist City of Austin, Texas. Many sneer at you there in the liberal cess pool when you drive by in a truck or SUV.
