2008 Gmc Sierra 0-60 Mph Time? Help!

I own an '08 gmc sierra single cab with the 4.8, limited slip, and 3.23 gears. I just timed my 0-60 mph and it's a pathetic to say the least 11.5 seconds! What is wrong here? I've seen people say that there single cab with either the 4.8 or 5.3 do it in around 7 to 8 seconds and in the 6's with bolt ons.

I couldn't say why but I've seen alot of people say that GM detunes the truck stock and that a custom tune will take away the "lag" when shifting etc. Hope this helps a bit

Yeah I know it's their stupid torque management system, but it just doesn't seem right at all.....11.5 sec to 60 mph in a single cab with 295hp. You know what I'm saying? My buddies 2000 single cab with the 5.3 which back then had only 285hp did 0-60 in the 7's stock.

Gears probably aren't helping much a tall either. I've heard the combination you are referencing is real slow. you'll probably get great gas milage though.

18.5 city is great

Depending on which 20s you have, they will kill your 0-60

18.5 city is great

Yeah I know, but they're lightweight 20 x 8.5's on Pirelli tires and when I switched from the stock 17's it was only slightly slower.

the 3.23 gears are slowing you down "off the line". on the highway theyre great because you can do 60 and barely be above 1200 rpms. but in the city theyll kill ya because of the extra power needed to get you moving.

Yeah it takes me f#cking 6 seconds to get to 30mph, but after that it has noticable power

My brother's friend has one and he said it was a dog. 18.5 in the city is very good.

ya my old 285hp bucket can do 0-60 7 sec flat after my wait4me tune. course I have 3.73's.

I came from a 95' sierra (only ~240 hp when I got through with it) with 3.73 gears and i noticed a big difference in the gearing when I got this one with 3.42. The biggest difference is in overdrive on the highway. This thing is gutless in 4th and has to downshift on small climbs. When it hooks up in third though it pulls nice.

I can imagine with the 3.23s it's even worse. My first gear goes to about 40 mph! Second goes to ~75. Third goes north of 115. If there was an easy way to change to 3.73 I would but I know that's probably next to impossible.

Is it really that hard to swap out gears. I've seen it done on Trucks! and other tv shows as an easy mod. At worse, you would have to get an axle assembly from another chevy with the desired gears.
