Exhaust Advice

I'm looking to change the exhaust on my 2000 silverado 1500 5.3L from stock exhaust. I dont want anything too loud, just noticeable and with good tone. Any Suggestions?

If your stock pipes are still good you could go for a Magnaflow muffler swap.

maybe try Gibson single side... i had one on my old truck and it was a little noticable and had a nice tone outside and not much noice inside.

ive got a flowmaster 50 series on my current truck and i like the way it sounds too.

Magnaflow 18" body muffler 3" single in 2.5" dual out.

This isn't the exact system I suggest you get, but the sound level will be very close, if anything just a tad quieter.

This is what I planned on doing, but which Magnaflow muffler? Or are they all pretty much the same?

They're all much better than Flowmaster or any other chambered muffler. The difference with certain Magnaflows is their case size. The bigger the quieter, the smaller the louder. I suggested you the 18"

I have the Magnaflow 9x11x22 (part 12589) which is what was suggested by Magnaflow for the NBS 5.3. I am not sure what they would suggest for your truck. My exhaust got a little louder, but not too loud. It has a nice deep tone when accelerating, but not all that noticeable. When towing my boat it gets a little annoying when going up hills on the highway, but for how much towing I do I can live with the noise.

If you don't do any heavy towing, I would suggest the next size down if you want the tone to be noticeable. Either way, the install is very easy with a little extra 3" pipe and a welder. This can be a driveway project...it was for me.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I didn't know what the different lengths meant. I guess I would like what sgrah said, something with a nice growl when accelerating, but not nothing too extreme.

I saw a youtube clip with an 18" muffler and 4" tip, I think thats the way I'm going to go.

Thanks sgrah, how did you know what Magnaflow suggested for your truck? I put my make and model info on their website but they only suggested full catback systems, not individual mufflers.

Do you notice any drone in an unloaded truck at highway speeds?

Yeah that sounds great. I've seen about every F-150 and Silverado exhaust video on there

ive still got my stock exhaust but have been looking at aftermarket and am really leaning towards the magnaflow from what i have heard. magnaflow isnt quite as loud as the flowmaster and the magnaflow has a lifetime warranty for rusting. but thats just my two cents i hope this helps you in your quest.

I heard a truck on youtube and ended up going with a dynomax ultraflow.......it has good tone and loud enough to be noticed but isnt annoying to drive. I have a total of 100 dollars in it including the muffler, pipe and paying the shop to weld it on. THANK YOU
