Park Assist / Trailer Hitch

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm the proud new owner of an '08 Sierra Denali. I recently set up my truck with a trailer hitch, which I like to leave in all the time to disuade people from rear-ending me.

However, as soon as I installed the hitch it made my Park Assist go crazy. It alternates between "Park Assist Off" and simply staying on but giving me constant "false-positives".

I really like the park assist feature, so I'm hoping someone can teach me a trick for getting my truck to "learn" the trailer hitch is there and just ignore it.

Anyone have a commando trick to do this?

Thanks,

As far as my knowledge you can't "trick" the system into "learning" its there and ignoring it.

If someone else has figured out a way please chime in and let us know.

Not that I know of.

You can maybe try to adjust the two middle sensors to point more out (lateral) to the rear end. However, not sure if this is possible since I don't know if they are molded in the bumper. If they are bolted in from the inside the bumper, a couple washer on one end of the sensor may work.

Just my thoughts.
